๐Ÿ”ฅ A. 014 โ€” Tuesday, 25th August 2026.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ *PREPARATORY PRAYERS*

Before We Receive the Wordโ€ฆ

*_For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”_*

โ€” Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV).

*1. The Prayer of Secret Place Hunger.*

_One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.”_

โ€” Psalm 27:4 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_God of the secret place, awaken in every heart present today the one consuming desire that David carried โ€” to dwell in Your presence, to behold Your beauty, and to inquire at Your feet. Deliver us from the fractured, distracted, โ€˜many-things spiritualityโ€™ that has robbed us of the โ€˜one thingโ€™ that matters most. Reduce us, Lord โ€” gloriously and gratefully โ€” to the โ€˜one thingโ€™. Let the secret place become our most cherished address, our most anticipated appointment, and our most fiercely protected priority, in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*2. The Prayer of Honest Confession.*

_Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.“_

โ€” Luke 11:1b (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Patient Nourisher, we come before You today with the honest confession of disciples who know they have not prayed as they ought. We have been busy about many things while the one necessary thing gathered dust. We have interceded in crisis but neglected communion in calm seasons. We have brought our requests loudly but listened for Your voice poorly. Teach and nourish us again, Lord โ€” from the very beginning if necessary. Teach us to pray โ€” not to perform prayer, not to recite prayer, but to genuinely, vulnerably, powerfully pray aright. Help us to be your willing child-students, in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*3. The Prayer Against Prayer Substitutes.*

_Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”_

โ€” Matthew 26:41 (NKJV)

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Vigilant God, we identify and resist every substitute that the flesh and the enemy have successfully used to crowd out our secret place discipline โ€” the endless scroll of social media, the tyranny of busyness, the exhaustion that conveniently arrives at prayer time, and the subtle pride that replaces personal prayer with public ministry activity. We are watching and praying right now โ€” against every device of the enemy that targets our secret place. Strengthen our flesh, Lord, to cooperate with our willing spirit, in Jesus’ mighty Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*4. The Prayer for Secret Place Fruit.*

_But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”_

โ€” Matthew 6:6 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Ever-Rewarding Father, we receive today the magnificent promise of Matthew 6:6 โ€” that secret place faithfulness produces open reward. What is built in the hidden place is displayed in the public place. What is received in the prayer closet is expressed in the ministry arena. What is deposited in the secret place is withdrawn in the season of need. We commit to the secret place today with the full expectation of Your open reward. Cure our weakness and train us in secret, Lord โ€” and reward us openly, to Your glory alone, in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ“œ THE TEACHING

*THE DISCIPLINE OF THE SECRET PLACE*

TEXTS: Matthew 6:6; Luke 18:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Daniel 6:10; Mark 1:35.

*INTRODUCTION*

*_The Discipline of the Secret Place”_* speaks about the most foundational, most irreplaceable, and most consistently neglected spiritual practice in the life of the Kingdom worker โ€” the deliberate, daily, private discipline of prayer that builds everything the public ministry needs and sustains everything the servant’s soul requires.

ย

*_Every great servant of God has had a secret place._*

*_Every great move of God has had a prayer foundation._*

*_Every great ministry that has endured has been sustained by hidden intercession._*

*_And every great servant who has collapsed publicly has, almost without exception, first abandoned their secret place privately._*

ย

*_The secret place is not a room with four walls._*

It is a posture of the soul โ€” a deliberate turning away from the noise of the world and a deliberate turning toward the face of the Father. It is the workshop where disciples are made โ€” not in the public lecture hall of theological training, but in the hidden laboratory of personal encounter with the living God.

Jesus, whose public ministry was the most powerful in human history, was simultaneously the most disciplined secret place practitioner who ever lived. Mark 1:35 reveals His pattern after the most demanding public day recorded in the Gospels โ€” He rose before dawn, withdrew to a solitary place, and prayed. This was not occasional. Luke 5:16 tells us He *_often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”_* Often โ€” habitually, consistently, protectively.

Daniel 6:10 presents one of Scripture’s most dramatic portraits of secret place courage โ€” a man who, facing a royal decree that criminalised his prayer practice, *_knelt on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.”_* As was his custom. Daniel’s secret place was not a crisis response โ€” it was a lifelong discipline. And that discipline produced a public life of supernatural wisdom, extraordinary integrity, and divine protection that no lion’s den could ultimately threaten.

Luke 18:1 reveals Jesus’ own prescription for the disciple’s prayer life โ€” He told a parable *_that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”_* Always. Not when circumstances are favourable. Not when spiritual feelings are elevated. Not when the prayer meeting is well attended. Always โ€” because the alternative to always praying is always losing heart. Prayer is not one option among many for maintaining spiritual vitality. It is the only option.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 compresses the entire theology of the secret place into three words: *_Pray without ceasing.”_* Not without pausing โ€” without ceasing. A continuous, underlying, life-orienting communion with God that colours every activity, informs every decision, and sustains every season. This is the mature expression of the secret place discipline โ€” when the closet prayer spills over into a prayerful life.

Beloved worker, your public ministry is only ever as strong as your private prayer. The anointing flows from the secret place. The wisdom descends in the secret place. The strategies are revealed in the secret place. The strength for the next season is deposited in the secret place. Everything your ministry needs is available โ€” in the workshop of the disciple.

*1. THE SECRET PLACE IS THE SOURCE OF PUBLIC POWER*

Mark 1:35.

*_Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”_*

Every dimension of Jesus’ public power flowed from His private prayer:

*_His authority in teaching was forged in secret place communion_*

*_His discernment of hearts was sharpened in secret place listening_*

*_His compassion for multitudes was sustained in secret place intimacy_*

*_His endurance through opposition was renewed in secret place surrender_*

*LESSON:*

What happens in your secret place is the single greatest determinant of what happens in your public ministry. Invest in the hidden โ€” and watch the visible flourish.

*2. THE SECRET PLACE REQUIRES COURAGEOUS CONSISTENCY*

Daniel 6:10.

*_He knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayedโ€ฆ as was his custom since early days.”_*

Daniel’s secret place survived every external pressure:

*_The pressure of governmental prominence that fills schedules_*

*_The pressure of cultural hostility that criminalises prayer_*

*_The pressure of personal danger that threatens consequences_*

*_The pressure of public expectation that demands constant availability_*

*LESSON:*

The secret place must be protected with the same ferocity with which you protect your most important appointments. Nothing โ€” not busyness, not opposition, not convenience โ€” must be permitted to consistently displace it.

*3. THE SECRET PLACE PRODUCES PERSEVERANCE*

Luke 18:1.

*_That men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”_*

The direct correlation Jesus draws is unmissable:

*_Prayerlessness and losing heart always travel together_*

*_Persistent prayer and sustained courage always travel together_*

*_The secret place is where discouragement is dismantled_*

*_The secret place is where fresh resolve is continuously deposited_*

*LESSON:*

Every time you feel like losing heart, it is an invitation back to the secret place. Discouragement is not first a circumstantial problem โ€” it is a prayer deficit. Return to the workshop and receive what the public arena has drained.

*4. THE SECRET PLACE OPENS INTO OPEN REWARD*

Matthew 6:6.

*_Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”_*

The Father’s open reward for secret place faithfulness includes:

*_Wisdom that surpasses natural intelligence in public situations_*

*_Favour that opens doors no human networking could unlock_*

*_Anointing that flows visibly and powerfully in ministry moments_*

*_Peace that stands unmoved when public pressures intensify_*

*LESSON:*

You never pray in secret without God watching. And God never watches faithful secret-place prayer without responding with open, visible, Kingdom-quality reward. The secret place is never a wasted investment.

๐Ÿ™ *INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*

After the Word โ€” Into the World We Go

*1. The Prayer for Restored Prayer Lives.*

*_Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”_*

โ€” Luke 18:1 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Lord Jesus, we intercede right now for every worker in this gathering whose prayer life has become irregular, mechanical, or virtually non-existent. The demands of ministry, family, and livelihood have crowded the secret place into a corner โ€” and sometimes out of the picture entirely. Restore the prayer lives of Your workers today, Lord. Not with condemnation but with holy conviction. Not with guilt but with fresh hunger. Let today mark the beginning of a new secret place season for every worker present โ€” deeper, more consistent, and more transforming than anything they have previously known, in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*2. The Prayer for Interceding Workers.*

*_Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.”_*

โ€” 1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_God of all intercession, raise up from within Christ’s Good News Mission a company of secret place intercessors who will carry the burdens of our congregation, our community, and our nation before Your throne with consistency and fervency. Let intercession become the invisible backbone of everything we do publicly. Let every programme be prayed into existence before it is planned into existence. Let every sermon be interceded over before it is prepared. Let every soul we seek to win be prayed for before they are approached. Build us into a house of prayer, Lord โ€” in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*3. The Prayer for Our Nation’s Prayer Movement.*

*_If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”_*

โ€” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Healing God, we stand today on the ancient promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and we pray it over Nigeria with holy desperation and holy expectation. We humble ourselves. We pray. We seek Your face. We turn from our wicked ways โ€” individually and corporately. Now hear from heaven, Lord! Forgive our national sins. Heal our deeply wounded land. Let the secret place prayers of Your people across this nation rise as a unified, irresistible, heaven-moving cry that releases divine intervention into our political, economic, social, and spiritual reality. Heal Nigeria, Lord โ€” in Jesus’ Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ

*4. The Prayer for a Praying Generation.*

_But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”_

โ€” Acts 6:4 (NKJV).

๐Ÿ”ฅ *_Apostolic God, let the spirit of Acts 6:4 rest upon the emerging generation of workers and ministers in Christ’s Good News Mission โ€” a generation that gives itself continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Raise up young men and women who discover the secret place early and guard it fiercely throughout their entire ministry lives. Let them never know the tragedy of a prayerless ministry or a powerless pulpit. Build them from the inside out โ€” secret place first, public ministry second. Let prayer be their first language and their last resort never, in Jesus’ triumphant and glorious Name!_* ๐Ÿ”ฅ
