1: HAVE Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay;
Mould me and make me
After Thy will,
While I am waiting,
Yielded and still.
2: Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Master, today!
Wash me just now, Lord,
Wash me just now,
As in Thy presence
Humbly I bow.
3: Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
Help me, I pray!
Power, all power,
Surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me,
Saviour divine!
4: Have Thine own way, Lord!
Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being
Absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit
Till all shall see
Christ only, always,
Living in me.
(Adelaide Pollard, 1907 — Written after Pollard heard a simple prayer, “It’s all right, Lord, it doesn’t matter what You do with me, just have Your own way with my life” — the definitive hymn on Jeremiah 18’s potter and clay!)

📖 Bible Lesson: Jeremiah 18:1-10; Romans 9:19-24 (NKJV)
📅 Liturgical Day: 13th Sunday After Pentecost — 23rd August 2026.
✍️ *Text: _“So he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”_* — Jeremiah 18:4 (NKJV).
🍇👑❤️🔥
In the ancient pottery villages of Tsukigata, Japan, a centuries-old art form called *_Kintsugi_* transforms broken ceramic vessels into objects of even greater value. When a bowl or vase shatters, the artisan does not discard the fragments. Instead, the pieces are painstakingly rejoined using lacquer mixed with powdered gold. The cracks are not hidden — they are illuminated. The philosophy behind kintsugi holds that breakage and repair are part of an object’s history, not something to disguise, but to celebrate, making the vessel more beautiful, more valuable, more unique than it ever was before the fracture.
Beloved, God sends Jeremiah on a most unusual assignment: *_“Arise and go down to the potter’s house”_* (Jeremiah 18:2). There, the prophet watches an everyday craftsman at work, and in that ordinary workshop, God delivers one of the most profound theological revelations in all of Scripture.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Marring: An Honest Assessment*
Jeremiah observes: *_“the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter”_* (v.4). Notice — the marring happens even while the vessel remains in the potter’s hand. This is crucial, Beloved. Your flaws, failures, and imperfections do not necessarily mean you have wandered from God’s hand — sometimes the marring occurs precisely because you are still being formed, still in process, still subject to the pressures that reveal weakness before they produce strength.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Remaking: Divine Persistence, Not Divine Rejection*
Here is the good news that should arrest every despairing heart today: *_“So he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make”_* (v.4). The potter did not discard the clay. He did not declare it worthless and reach for fresh material. He reworked the very same clay — the same substance, the same material — into a new form. Beloved, your history of failure has not made you a disqualified vessel. It makes you the very clay God intends to remake. *_Alleluia!_*
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Sovereignty: The Potter’s Undisputed Right*
Paul extends this imagery with startling directness in Romans 9: *_“Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honour and another for dishonour?”_* (v.21). This is not a doctrine that invites comfortable theological debate — it is a summons to humble submission. The clay does not dictate terms to the potter. It does not negotiate the shape, the size, or the purpose of its own formation. *_“Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why have you made me like this?'”_* (v.20).
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Condition: Clay That Remains Yielded*
Yet Jeremiah 18:8 reveals something profound about the interactive nature of this relationship — the potter’s plans can be altered by the clay’s response: *_“If that nation… turns from its evil, I will relent.”_* God is sovereign, but He is not indifferent to the posture of his human creation. Yielded, repentant, pliable clay invites the potter’s mercy. Hardened, resistant clay invites judgment. The choice of posture, though never the choice of outcome, remains yours. *_Praise the LORD!_*
Beloved, if you feel marred today — cracked, broken, misshapen by sin or circumstance — hear this: *_you are not being discarded._* You are being returned to the wheel. *Stay yielded. Stay soft. Let the Potter’s hands do what only His hands can do.*
*_“So he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”_* — Jeremiah 18:4 (NKJV). ✝️❤️🔥🦅
🙏✝️❤️🔥 *SEVEN INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*
(Post-Exhortation — Prophetic Charismatic Warfare)
❤️🔥 *Prayer 8 — _Against the Spirit of Rejection._*
Title: Every Lie of Worthlessness Destroyed.
_“So he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”_ — Jeremiah 18:4 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, My God — we destroy every spirit of rejection and worthlessness whispering that any soul here is beyond remaking! We declare that lie null and void, consumed by Holy Ghost fire, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 9 — _Against Hardness of Heart._*
Title: Every Resistant, Dry Vessel Softened.
_“…if that nation… turns from its evil, I will relent.”_ — Jeremiah 18:8 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Mighty God, we break every hardness, stubbornness, and resistance to Your shaping hand in this Nation! We command every dried, brittle heart in our governance to be softened by the water of Your Word RIGHT NOW, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 10 — _For Vessels Marred by Trauma._*
Title: Every Fracture Filled with Gold.
_“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”_ — Psalm 147:3 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Healing Potter, take every cracked and traumatised soul in this congregation, community and nation, and fill their fractures with the gold of Your glory! Let their scars become testimonies rather than shame, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 11 — _For Divine Purpose Restored._*
Title: Reshaped for Honourable Use.
_“…vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory.”_ — Romans 9:23 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Sovereign Potter, restore the sense of divine purpose to every soul who feels they have missed their design for success in life! Reshape them now for the honourable use You always intended, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 12 — _Against Premature Self-Judgment._*
Title: No Vessel Declares Itself Finished Too Soon.
_“Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why have you made me like this?'”_ — Romans 9:20 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Father of process, silence every voice of self-condemnation that declares a life or nation finished or ruined before the Potter has completed His work! Let patience with the process replace premature judgment on our lives, families and nation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 13 — _For Christ’s Good News Mission: A Vessel of Honour._*
Title: This Ministry Shaped for Glorious Purpose.
_“…vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory.”_ — Romans 9:23 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Master Potter, we decree that Christ’s Good News Mission remains a vessel of mercy and honour in Your sovereign hands! Let every worker, minister, and member remain soft, yielded clay, continually reshaped for Your glory. We shall never disappoint God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 14 — _The Warfare Benediction._*
Title: Sent Out Yielded and Being Remade.
_“O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand.”_ — Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, My God — seal every soul returning home or to an endeavour after leaving this sanctuary today as soft, yielded clay in Your sovereign hands! Let them carry into their week a settled peace that even their errors are not the end of their story, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
🎵 *CLOSING HYMN MHB. 579 — _“Search Me, O God”._*
🔍 YouTube Search: “Search Me, O God — J. Edwin Orr indexed as #579 in Standard Major Mainstream Hymnals, and #247 in Revival Hymns and Choruses.”
1: SEARCH me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Saviour, know my thoughts, I pray;
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.
2: I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfil Thy Word, and make me pure within;
Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy Name.
3: Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine;
Take all my will, my passion, self, and pride;
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.
(J. Edwin Orr, 1936 — A hymn of deep personal surrender and self-examination — a fitting closing prayer for hearts freshly returned to the Potter’s wheel.)
