π―οΈ *PREPARATORY PRAYERS*
Before We Receive the Wordβ¦
*_“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”_*
β Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV).
*1. The Prayer of Word Hunger.*
_“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.”_
β Psalm 42:1 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Living God, ignite in every heart present today a hunger for Your Word that is deeper than our hunger for entertainment, more urgent than our appetite for social media, and more persistent than our craving for human opinion and fast money. We are tired of feeding on substitutes when Your Word β living, powerful, and eternally nourishing β is available to us at any moment. Create in us the holy addiction of the Bible-moth β the insatiable, joyful, life-transforming compulsion to devour Your Word daily. Make us genuinely, desperately, gloriously hungry for Your Scripture, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*2. The Prayer for Illuminated Understanding.*
_“Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.”_
β Psalm 119:18 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Spirit of all wisdom, we do not merely want to read the Word β we want to encounter the God behind the Word. Open the eyes of our understanding today with supernatural precision. Let every scripture that has felt familiar suddenly burn with fresh revelation. Let every passage that has seemed difficult suddenly yield its treasure to hungry, humble hearts. Illuminate our minds, warm our hearts, and transform our living through the wondrous things hidden in Your law. We come not as scholars seeking information but as children seeking their Father β speak to us, Lord, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*3. The Prayer Against Word Negligence.*
_“Therefore, we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.”_
β Hebrews 2:1 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Faithful God, we repent today of every season of Word negligence β the Bibles left unopened on bedside tables, the devotional times sacrificed to busyness, the scripture reading replaced by scrolling, and the meditation crowded out by noise. We recognise that drifting always begins with neglecting the Word. Restore in us the earnest heed that Hebrews commands. Let our engagement with Scripture be not casual and occasional but deliberate, daily, and deeply intentional. Anchor us to Your Word, Lord β that we may never drift, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*4. The Prayer for Word-Shaped Living.*
_“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”_
β Psalm 119:11 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Holy God, let the Word we receive today not merely inform our minds but inhabit our hearts. Let it sink so deeply into our inner man that it becomes the instinctive vocabulary of our daily decisions. Let it shape our responses before pressure arrives, redirect our steps before temptation strikes, and anchor our souls before the storms of life rage. Hide Your Word in us, Lord β not as a religious ornament but as a living, active, sin-defeating, life-directing force that governs everything we are and everything we do, in Jesus’ mighty Name!_* π₯
π THE TEACHING
*ADDICTED TO THE WORD*
TEXTS: Psalm 119:97β105; Joshua 1:8; 2 Timothy 2:15; John 8:31β32; Hebrews 4:12.
*INTRODUCTION*
*_“Addicted to the Word”_* speaks about the beautiful, holy, and essential compulsion that marks every genuinely effective servant of God β the deep, daily, joyful immersion in Scripture that transforms ordinary believers into extraordinary Kingdom instruments.
*Christ’s Good News Mission* carries a glorious identity embedded in its very mission statement β the raising of Bible-moths. Not merely Bible readers. Not occasional Bible browsers. Not Sunday-morning-only Scripture consumers. But Bible-moths β those whose very existence is so thoroughly immersed in the Word of God that they are, quite literally, found eating it at every opportunity.
*_The Bible-moth is not a figure of mere academic devotion._*
*_The Bible-moth is the disciple who has discovered that the Word of God is not a religious textbook to be studied occasionally β_*
*_It is living bread to be consumed daily._*
*_It is a lamp without which the path becomes dangerously dark._*
*_It is a sword without which the battle becomes catastrophically one-sided._*
*_It is a mirror without which self-deception goes perpetually uncorrected._*
Psalm 119:97 opens with one of the most passionate declarations of Word-love in all of Scripture: *_“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all day.”_* All day β not the designated quiet time slot, not the Sunday service hour, not the midweek Bible study session alone. All day! The psalmist had achieved what every disciple hungers for β a continuous, uninterrupted communion with the living Word that seasoned every waking moment with divine perspective.
Joshua 1:8 reveals God’s own prescription for supernatural success: *_“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”_* The prosperity and success promised here are not the accidental by-products of hard work β they are the guaranteed consequences of Word-immersion. Meditation produces observation. Observation produces transformation. Transformation produces the kind of fruitfulness that God Himself calls βgood success.β
John 8:31β32 reveals the discipleship dimension of Word-addiction: *_“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”_* Discipleship is not defined by church attendance or ministry activity alone β it is defined by abiding in the Word. And the freedom that genuine disciples experience is not merely emotional relief β it is the comprehensive, multi-dimensional liberation that only truth, deeply known and personally applied, can produce.
Hebrews 4:12 reminds us of the astonishing nature of the instrument we are handling: *_“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”_* Living. Powerful. Sharp. Penetrating. Discerning. This is not an ancient religious text preserved by historical accident β it is a living organism, breathing with divine energy, capable of reaching the parts of the human soul that no human instrument can access.
Beloved worker, you have been called to be a Bible-moth. Not a Bible butterfly β beautiful but superficial, landing briefly and moving on. A Bible-moth β thorough, persistent, going deep, consuming completely, and being transformed by what is consumed.
*1. THE BIBLE-MOTH MEDITATES CONTINUOUSLY*
Psalm 119:97.
*_“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.”_*
Continuous meditation produces progressive transformation:
*_What is meditated upon shapes what is thought about_*
*_What is thought about governs what is decided_*
*_What is decided determines what is lived_*
*_What is lived becomes the testimony that wins others_*
*LESSON:*
Meditation is not the emptying of the mind β it is the filling of the mind with God’s Word until His thoughts become your thoughts and His ways become your instincts.
*2. THE BIBLE-MOTH OBEYS WHAT HE OR SHE READS*
Joshua 1:8.
*_“That you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.”_*
Word-addiction without obedience produces dangerous spiritual inflation:
*_Knowledge of Scripture without application breeds pride_*
*_Familiarity with the Word without submission breeds deception_*
*_Ability to quote Scripture without obeying it breeds hypocrisy_*
*_The Bible-moth reads to obey β not merely to know or teach_*
*LESSON:*
The true measure of your Word-addiction is not how much Scripture you can quote β it is how thoroughly Scripture has rearranged your living. Obedience is the proof of genuine immersion.
*3. THE BIBLE-MOTH IS FREED BY THE TRUTH*
John 8:32.
*_“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”_*
Deep Word-knowledge produces comprehensive freedom:
*_Freedom from the deception that ignorance of Scripture allows_*
*_Freedom from the fear that only God’s promises can dissolve_*
*_Freedom from the bondage that only truth can permanently break_*
*_Freedom from the confusion that only divine clarity can resolve_*
*LESSON:*
Every area of your life in which you are not yet free is an area where the truth of God’s Word has not yet been fully received and applied. Go deeper into the Word β and watch the freedom expand.
*4. THE BIBLE-MOTH IS EQUIPPED FOR EVERY ASSIGNMENT*
2 Timothy 2:15.
*_“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”_*
Word immersion produces Kingdom-ready workers:
*_Approved by God β not merely applauded by people_*
*_Unashamed β because their living matches their learning_*
*_Rightly dividing β handling truth with accuracy and integrity_*
*_Fully equipped β prepared for every good work that Kingdom service demands_*
*LESSON:*
The most effective worker in God’s Kingdom is never the most naturally talented β He or she is always the most Word-saturated. Diligence in the Word is diligence in your calling.

π *INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*
After the Word β Into the World We Go
*1. The Prayer for a Word-Saturated Congregation.*
*_“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.”_*
β Colossians 3:16 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Lord Jesus, let Your Word dwell richly β not thinly, not superficially, not occasionally β but richly, transforming and abundantly in every member of CHRIST’S GOOD NEWS MISSION. Let Scripture be the language of our fellowship, the currency of our encouragement, and the standard of our corporate decision-making. Let our conversations be seasoned with the Word. Let our worship be anchored in the Word. Let the Word shape our community life β until we become a congregation so thoroughly Word-saturated that we are visibly, measurably, and attractively different from the world around us, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*2. The Prayer for the Next Generation of Bible-Moths.*
_“From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”_
β 2 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of Timothy, we intercede for the young workers and emerging disciples in our congregation β that they would encounter Your Word not as a religious obligation imposed from outside but as a living fire discovered from within. Let them find in Scripture what Timothy found β wisdom for salvation, direction for living, and the solid foundation that no cultural earthquake can dislodge. Raise up a generation of young Bible-moths in Christ’s Good News Mission who will carry the torch of Word-addiction into the next decade with even greater fire than we have carried it in this one, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*3. The Prayer for Workers Who Handle the Word.*
_“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.”_
β 2 Timothy 4:2a (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of all preachers and teachers, we intercede for every worker in this mission who handles Your Word publicly β every teacher, every preacher, every small group leader, every counsellor who uses Scripture, and every evangelist who proclaims the Gospel. Let them handle the Word with accuracy, with reverence, with personal integrity, and with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Deliver them from the laziness of poor preparation, the pride of reckless interpretation, and the cowardice of preaching only what itching ears want to hear. Make them worthy handlers of the most powerful Book in human history, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*4. The Prayer for Personal Daily Devotion.*
_“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.”_
β Psalm 1:2 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of the blessed humans, we pray specifically and practically for the daily devotional lives of every worker in this gathering. For the ones whose quiet times have become irregular β restore Your rhythm. For those ones whose Bible reading has become mechanical β restore their hunger for You. For those who have never established a consistent devotional habit β today let it begin. Let delight replace duty in our engagement with Your Word. Let meditation replace mere reading. Let transformation replace mere information. Make us Psalm 1 people β planted, fruitful, and without withering β through the daily discipline of Word-addiction, in Jesus’ triumphant Name!_* π₯
