π―οΈ *PREPARATORY PRAYERS*
Before We Receive the Wordβ¦
*_“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”_*
β Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV).
*1. The Prayer for Spiritual Intelligence.*
_“Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”_
β 2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of all wisdom and revelation, we come before You today asking for the spiritual intelligence that only You can supply β a clear, Scripture-grounded understanding of the enemy we face, the devices he deploys, and the limits within which he operates. Deliver us from the two equal and opposite errors: ignoring the enemy entirely as though he does not exist and magnifying him beyond his true measure as though he were omnipotent. Give us instead the sober, informed, fearless warrior’s knowledge that You alone supply β that we may not be taken advantage of, but may engage every spiritual battle with clarity and Kingdom confidence, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*2. The Prayer Against Spiritual Blindness.*
_“The god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”_
β 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God who opens blind eyes, we intercede today against every veil the enemy has strategically placed over the eyes of our understanding β veils of deception, distraction, false theology, and spiritual apathy that have kept us from seeing clearly what we are actually fighting, and why so many battles have been harder than they needed to be. Open our eyes, Lord, as You opened Elisha’s servant’s eyes to see the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire β that the spiritual reality around us would be as vivid and navigable as the natural reality before us. Let us see clearly, fight effectively, and win decisively, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*3. The Prayer for Fearless Engagement.*
_“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith.”_
β 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Fearless Sovereign, grant us today the sober vigilance and the steadfast faith with which we are commanded to resist our adversary. We acknowledge that the lion roars β but we are equally confident that he is on a leash You hold. We resist fear, paralysis, and the over-fascination with darkness that replaces genuine warfare engagement with spiritual spectating. Make us workers who are aware without being afraid, vigilant without being consumed, and resistant without being reactive. Let our resistance be rooted not in personal bravado but in the settled, unshakeable faith of those whose victory the cross has already secured, in Jesus’ mighty Name!_* π₯
*4. The Prayer of the Certain Victor.*
_“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”_
β 1 John 4:4 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Greater God, before this teaching begins, we anchor ourselves in the truth that settles every question of outcome β He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. We are not entering an uncertain contest. We are not warriors hoping for a possible victory. We are disciples of the One who has already spoiled principalities and powers, made a public spectacle of them, and triumphed over them in the cross. We do not fight for victory β we fight from victory. Let this foundational confidence undergird every word we receive today, every weapon we wield this week, and every battle we engage this season, in Jesus’ triumphant Name!_* π₯
π THE TEACHING
*KNOW YOUR ENEMY*
TEXTS: 1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 2:11; John 10:10; Colossians 2:15.
*INTRODUCTION*
*_“Know Your Enemy”_* carries Block Four’s Warrior’s Walk to a strategically indispensable destination. A soldier who has been armoured (A.019), armed (A.020), and is now preparing to engage β but carries no reliable intelligence about the adversary they face β is a brave but unnecessarily vulnerable fighter. The military principle is ancient and universally acknowledged across every theatre of warfare: know your enemy. The Kingdom principle is older still β and infinitely more reliable.
Scripture does not leave the believer ignorant of the adversary. It describes him with careful, specific, and revelatory precision β not to generate fear but to equip for effective warfare. The Apostle Paul declares in 2 Corinthians 2:11 that the Church is designed to operate with deliberate, informed awareness of Satan’s devices β *_“lest Satan should take advantage of us.”_* The implication is sobering: ignorance is exploitable. An uninformed Church does not simply lose the element of surprise β it consistently loses battles that were entirely winnable, simply because it did not recognise the nature of the assault being mounted against it.
Ephesians 6:12 provides the clearest taxonomic description of the spiritual opposition the Kingdom worker faces: *_“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”_* This verse does two equally important things simultaneously: it identifies the true nature of the opposition as spiritual rather than human, and it redirects the worker’s energy away from people and toward the real enemy operating behind the visible conflict. The worker who fights people as though people were the primary enemy exhausts their weapons on the wrong target, depletes their compassion on the wrong response, and repeatedly misses the spiritual source driving the human friction they experience.
1 Peter 5:8 describes the enemy as one who *_“walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”_* Three observations from this single verse carry enormous strategic weight: he is actively mobile β not static or passive; he is *seeking* β which implies he does not automatically know who he can destroy; and he devours only those he *may* β meaning his success is not guaranteed and is entirely resistible. John 10:10 characterises his operational agenda with defining economy: *_“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”_* Every strategy he employs β without a single exception β serves one of these three objectives against the worker and the mission they carry.
Yet Colossians 2:15 declares the glorious reversal that transforms the entire equation: *_“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”_* The cross was not the enemy’s moment of triumph over Christ β it was Christ’s moment of triumph over the enemy. The beloved worker does not fight an undefeated opponent. They enforce, in Jesus’ Name, the already-accomplished victory of a risen, reigning, and returning King.
Beloved worker, you are not called to be obsessed with darkness β but you are called to be *informed* about it, that you may effectively dismantle what darkness attempts to build. Know your enemy β not to fear him, but to defeat him more consistently, more swiftly, and more gloriously than you have been doing.
*1. THE ENEMY’S IDENTITY*
Ephesians 6:12; John 10:10.
*_“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age.”_*
The well-informed worker understands clearly:
*_That the primary enemy is never human β the person opposing you may be an instrument, but they are never the source, and this understanding preserves the worker’s compassion while sharpening their warfare targeting_*
*_That spiritual opposition carries hierarchy and organisation β principalities, powers, and rulers operating in coordinated, strategic, and purposeful darkness_*
*_That the enemy’s threefold agenda is always and only the same β to steal what God has given, to kill what God has built, and to destroy what God has established in the worker’s life and mission_*
*_That recognising the true enemy is not an academic exercise β it is a compassion-preserving, strategy-clarifying, energy-conserving revelation that changes how every worker engages every battle._*
*LESSON:*
The worker who misidentifies their enemy misspends their ammunition. Battles mounted against flesh and blood β against colleagues, family members, community opposition, or institutional resistance β are battles fought against instruments rather than sources. Redirect your warfare to the spiritual source, and watch the human manifestation begin to shift in its response.
*2. THE ENEMY’S STRATEGY*
2 Corinthians 2:11; 2 Corinthians 11:14.
*_“Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”_*
The enemy’s consistently deployed strategies include:
*_Deception β the masquerade as an angel of light that makes destruction appear as opportunity, compromise appear as wisdom, and disobedience appear as progressive grace_*
*_Division β the strategic injection of offence, misunderstanding, and pride into relationships and teams that are too powerful when unified to be defeated any other way_*
*_Discouragement β the sustained campaign of accusation, delay, and apparent defeat designed to drain the worker’s faith before the breakthrough they are praying toward finally arrives_*
*_Distraction β the endless supply of urgent but spiritually irrelevant demands that successfully crowd the truly important off the worker’s agenda, without ever having to mount a direct frontal assault._*
*LESSON:*
No strategy the enemy deploys is genuinely new β he has been recycling the same devices across the entire sweep of human history. What changes is only the packaging. The worker who has studied the enemy’s patterns recognises the device even when the disguise is fresh β and responds from Scripture rather than from surprise.
*3. THE ENEMY’S LIMITATIONS*
Colossians 2:15; Job 1:12; 1 John 4:4.
*_“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”_*
The enemy is constrained in ways the fearful worker frequently and consequentially forgets:
*_He is created, not eternal β finite in knowledge, finite in presence, finite in power, and ultimately accountable to the throne that reigns infinitely above him_*
*_He is defeated, not dominant β the cross stripped him of ultimate authority, and he operates now on borrowed time within a borrowed domain, awaiting the inevitable finalisation of his already-pronounced sentence_*
*_He is resistible β James 4:7 declares that resistance works: “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” He is not an irresistible force but a retreating one_*
*_He is leashed β Job 1:12 demonstrates with uncomfortable clarity that he could not touch what God had not permitted him to touch. Every attack occurs within boundaries the Sovereign God has set and will not allow to be exceeded._*
*LESSON:*
Fear of the enemy is, in the final analysis, a misassignment of attributes that belong exclusively to God β omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence β being credited to a being who possesses none of them. Know the enemy’s true measure and fight accordinglyβas the victor you already are in Christ.
*4. THE BELIEVER’S DELEGATED AUTHORITY*
Luke 10:19; Mark 16:17; Colossians 2:10.
*_“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”_*
The Kingdom worker operates from a position of delegated, Christ-sourced authority that is:
*_Personally granted by the risen Christ β not earned, not inherited through ministerial lineage, not purchased with years of service, but freely delegated to every believer who stands in genuine commissioned relationship with the Name_*
*_Superior to all the power of the enemy β Jesus did not give us sufficient authority for some battles; He gave us authority_ over all _the power of the enemy, without territorial exception_*
*_Consciously activated rather than automatically applied β it requires the intentional, faith-filled, Name-invoking engagement of the believing worker to produce its transforming effect_*
*_Strengthened through regular exercise β the worker who exercises Kingdom authority regularly becomes increasingly fluent in its deployment and increasingly effective in its results._*
*LESSON:*
You carry an authority the enemy respects even in the seasons when you do not. The question is never whether you carry enough authority β Christ settled that question permanently at the cross and at the empty tomb. The question is whether you are walking in the full, confident, and consistent exercise of the authority that is already, irrevocably, and completely yours in Him.

π *INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*
After the Word β Into the World We Go
*1. The Prayer for Spiritual Intelligence Across the Mission.*
_“Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.”_
β 2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Omniscient God, we intercede for strategic spiritual intelligence across every layer of Christ’s Good News Mission β that our leaders, workers, and intercessors would carry an increasingly accurate, Scripture-grounded understanding of the specific devices being deployed against our congregation, our community outreach, and our Kingdom assignments. Let no device of the enemy succeed simply because it went unrecognised. Give our leadership team the discernment to see what is actually happening behind every opposition, every conflict, and every seemingly inexplicable setback β and the wisdom to respond to the spiritual source, not merely the natural surface, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
Β
*2. The Prayer Against Division in the Mission.*
_“Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offences, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.”_
β Romans 16:17 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of perfect unity, we intercede against every assignment the enemy has launched against the relational fabric of Christ’s Good News Mission. We expose and resist every spirit of offence, pride, jealousy, misrepresentation, and misunderstanding that the enemy has strategically injected into our community to divide what, united, would be too powerful to withstand. Heal every wounded relationship. Restore every broken trust. Dismantle every wedge the enemy has driven between workers, between families, and between generations within this Mission. What God has joined together in Kingdom purpose, let no enemy strategy succeed in putting asunder, in Jesus’ mighty Name!_* π₯
*3. The Prayer for the Discouraged Worker.*
_“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”_
β Galatians 6:9 (NKJV).
π₯ *_Sustaining Lord, we intercede right now for every worker in our mission who is in the grip of the enemy’s most patient and persistent campaign β discouragement. The ministry has been harder than anticipated. The fruit has appeared more slowly than faith imagined. The personal cost has exceeded the original budget. And the enemy has been whispering with practised consistency that nothing is working and nothing will. Meet every such worker today, Lord β not with condemnation for their wavering, but with fresh hope, renewed vision, and the indestructible promise that in due season the reaping comes β if we do not lose heart. Strengthen them to hold on, in Jesus’ Name!_* π₯
*4. The Prayer of the Certain Conqueror.*
_“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”_
β Romans 8:37 (NKJV).
π₯ *_God of every conquest, let the workers of Christ’s Good News Mission carry as their settled daily identity the unshakeable conviction of Romans 8:37 β that we are not merely survivors, not merely victors, but_ *more than conquerors* _through the One who loved us. Let us engage every battle from this vantage pointβnot from the valley of fear looking up at the enemy, but from the high ground of Christ’s accomplished triumph, looking down at a defeated foe. Let our warfare posture, our confessions, our prayers, and our service all reflect the unbreakable confidence of those who already know how the story ends, in Jesus’ triumphant and altogether glorious Name!_* π₯
