🎵 *OPENING HYMN MHB. 245 — _“O Thou Who Camest from Above”_*
🔍 YouTube Search: “O Thou Who Camest from Above — Charles Wesley, Standard Major Mainstream Hymnals #245” 🎵
1: O THOU who camest from above,
The pure celestial fire to impart,
Kindle a flame of sacred love
On the mean altar of my heart.
2: There let it for Thy glory burn
With inextinguishable blaze,
And trembling to its source return,
In humble prayer and fervent praise.
3: Jesus, confirm my heart’s desire
To work, and speak, and think for Thee;
Still let me guard the holy fire,
And still stir up Thy gift in me.
4: Ready for all Thy perfect will,
My acts of faith and love repeat,
Till death Thine endless mercies seal,
And make my sacrifice complete.
(Charles Wesley, 1762 — Perhaps the definitive Wesleyan hymn on the fire of God kindled and guarded within the believer’s heart — theologically inseparable from this Pentecostal theme of unquenchable revival fire.)

📅 Liturgical Day: 15th Sunday After Pentecost — 6th September 2026.
✍️ *Text: _“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!”_* — Luke 12:49 (NKJV).
🍇👑❤️🔥
In 1904, a Welsh coal miner named Evan Roberts began praying a simple, four-fold prayer: confess every known sin, remove anything doubtful, obey the Spirit promptly, confess Christ publicly. Within months, the Welsh Revival had swept across an entire nation — over 100,000 converts, taverns emptying, coal mine production reportedly slowing because miners had stopped cursing at their pit ponies (the animals, trained only to respond to profanity, initially failed to understand gentler commands). Observers noted that the fire did not begin with elaborate strategy — it began with a handful of yielded hearts and a longing for God’s Presence that would not be denied.
Beloved, our text finds Jesus making one of His most startling declarations: *_“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!”_* (Luke 12:49). This is not the gentle, meek Jesus of popular imagination — this is Christ expressing holy impatience for the very fire that would later fall in Acts 2.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Longing: Christ’s Own Desire for Fire*
Notice the emotional intensity of Jesus’ words — “how I wish it were already kindled!” This is not a reluctant permission; it is an ardent longing. The fire of Pentecost was not an accident of church history — it was the specific desire of Christ Himself, planned before the foundation of the world and anticipated with holy eagerness.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Fulfilment: Fire Falls in the Upper Room*
Fifty days after resurrection, in an upper room in Jerusalem, that longing found its fulfilment: “there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:3-4). Notice the careful detail — the fire was divided, resting individually upon each person present. This was not corporate atmosphere alone; it was personal impartation. Every believer received their own flame.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Cost: Fire That Divides Before It Unites*
Jesus continues with a sobering clarification: *_“Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division”_* (Luke 12:51). Authentic revival fire, Beloved, does not merely warm — it also separates. It divides consecration from compromise, urgency from apathy, the wholehearted from the lukewarm. The same fire that unites believers in one accord (Acts 2:1) will inevitably create division from those unwilling to be consumed by it.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Responsibility: Guarding What Heaven Has Given*
Fire, once kindled, requires tending. Paul later instructs Timothy, *_“stir up the gift of God which is in you”_* (2 Timothy 1:6) — the Greek suggests rekindling embers that have begun to dim through neglect, not because the fire’s source failed, but because the vessel stopped feeding it. Charles Wesley’s prayer captures this responsibility precisely: *_“Still let me guard the holy fire, and still stir up Thy gift in me.”_*
Beloved, the fire Christ longed to kindle has already fallen. The question before this congregation today is not whether God is willing to send fire — He already has. The question is whether we will guard the flame, feed it through prayer and obedience, and let it consume everything in us unworthy of His Presence.

🙏✝️❤️🔥 *SEVEN INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*
(Post-Exhortation — Prophetic Charismatic Warfare)
❤️🔥 *Prayer 8 — _Against Every Quenching Spirit*
Title: Every Force That Dims the Flame Destroyed.
_“Do not quench the Spirit.”_ — 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, My God — we bind every spirit of compromise, worldliness, and spiritual apathy attempting to quench the fire of God in this congregation! We command every dampening influence to be consumed by superior fire, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 9 — _For Fresh Pentecostal Outpouring_*
Title: The Upper Room Experience Repeated Today.
_“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house.”_ — Acts 2:2 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Sovereign Spirit, we cry out for a fresh, sudden, unmistakable outpouring upon this congregation as in the Upper Room! Let this sanctuary become the house that is filled today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 10 — _Against Lukewarmness_*
Title: Every Spirit of Neither-Hot-Nor-Cold Rebuked.
*_“So then, because you are lukewarm… I will vomit you out of My mouth.”_* — Revelation 3:16 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Consuming Fire, we rebuke every spirit of lukewarmness and spiritual mediocrity in this congregation! We decree that every believer here becomes either wholly consumed or thoroughly convicted, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 11 — _For Boldness Ignited by Fire_*

Title: Fire Spreading Beyond These Walls.
_“I came to send fire on the earth.”_ — Luke 12:49 (NKJV).

❤️🔥 *Prayer 14 — _The Warfare Benediction_*
Title: Sent Out Ablaze and Unquenchable.
_“Still let it for Thy glory burn with inextinguishable blaze.”_ — (Wesley, 1762).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, my God — seal every soul departing this sanctuary today with an unquenchable, inextinguishable flame! Let them carry Pentecostal fire into every space they occupy this week, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
🎵 *CLOSING HYMN MHB. 246 — _“Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart”_*
🔍 YouTube Search: “Spirit of God Descend Upon My Heart — George Croly, Standard Major Mainstream Hymnals #246” 🎵
1: SPIRIT of God, descend upon my heart;
Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
Stoop to my weakness, mighty as Thou art,
And make me love Thee as I ought to love.
2: I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitant, no opening skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.
3: Teach me to feel that Thou art always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.
4: Teach me to love Thee as Thine angels love,
One holy passion filling all my frame;
The baptism of the heaven descended Dove,
My heart an altar, and Thy love the flame.
(George Croly, 1854 — A hymn of quiet, deep yearning for the Spirit’s fire to burn within, without demanding spectacle — a fitting close that grounds revival fire in daily, sustained devotion.)
