🎵 OPENING HYMN
*MHB. 91 — _“ALL hail the power of Jesu’s Name”_*
https://share.google/hvmQHncI71apnF4iJ
1: ALL hail the power of Jesu’s Name;
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem
To crown Him Lord of all.
2: Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from His altar call;
Extol Him in whose path ye trod,
And crown Him Lord of all.
3: Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
And crown him Lord of all.
4: Sinners ! Whose love can ne’er forget
The wormwood and the gall;
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all.
5: Let every tribe and every tongue
Before Him prostrate fall,
And shout in universal song
The crowned Lord of all.
6: O that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall,
Join in the everlasting song,
And crown him Lord of all!
(This Christian hymn has been called the *_“National Anthem of Christendom”._* The lyrics, written by Edward Perronet, first appeared in the November, 1779 issue of the Gospel Magazine, which was edited by the author of “Rock of Ages”, Augustus Toplady …One of the supreme Wesleyan hymn of holy fire and entire sanctification, perfectly crowning a Pentecost Sunday Service).

🍇👑❤️🔥
On the 19th of April 1906, a small, humble mission on Azusa Street in Los Angeles, California, became the epicentre of one of the most extraordinary spiritual explosions in modern Christian history. The building was a former stable — dilapidated, unpretentious, and wholly unimpressive by any human measure. Its leader was William J. Seymour, a one-eyed son of freed slaves, who had no formal theological degree, no wealthy patron, and no influential connections. Yet when the Holy Spirit fell upon that gathering of hungry, praying believers — regardless of race, class, or social standing — the Azusa Street Revival erupted and its flames spread across the globe within months. Newspapers mocked it. Theologians dismissed it. But no human opposition could contain it. The fire that fell on Azusa Street launched the modern Pentecostal movement — today the fastest-growing expression of Christianity on earth, numbering over 600 million souls. One surrendered upper room. One faithful outpouring. Whole continents ablaze.
Beloved, that Azusa flame was not an anomaly — it was a continuation. It was the same fire that fell in Jerusalem two thousand years ago, refusing to be extinguished by persecution, philosophy, or the passing of centuries. And on this Pentecost Sunday, that same fire is available — right here, right now — for every yielded, waiting, hungry soul in this assembly.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Waiting That Preceded the Filling.*
Acts 2 does not begin with fire — it begins with faithfulness. Before the Spirit fell, the disciples had obeyed the command to wait: *_“they were all with one accord in one place”_* (Acts 2:1, NKJV). One hundred and twenty believers — unified in purpose, persevering in prayer, expectant in faith — had been waiting for ten days since the Ascension. The waiting was not passive; it was the active, disciplined preparation of vessels for an extraordinary outpouring.
This is a word for every believer who has been in a season of waiting — waiting for a promise to manifest, a prayer to be answered, a calling to be activated. The upper room principle declares that waiting in obedience, unity, and expectation is never wasted time. It is preparation time. The Holy Spirit does not fill careless vessels; He fills consecrated ones. And when the fullness comes — it comes suddenly, it comes powerfully, and it comes completely.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Filling That Changed Everything.*
When the Spirit fell, the transformation was immediate, total, and undeniable. These were the same men who had locked the doors for fear of the Jews just weeks earlier (John 20:19, NKJV). Peter — who had wept bitterly after denying Christ three times — now stood before thousands with apostolic authority and declared the resurrection with such power that three thousand souls were added to the Church in a single day. The fire of Pentecost did not merely make the disciples feel better — it made them fundamentally different. Fear became boldness. Confusion became clarity. Silence became proclamation.
Jesus had promised in John 14:26: *_“the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you”_* (NKJV). The Holy Spirit is not a supplementary option for advanced Christians — He is the essential equipment for every believer’s daily walk. Without Him, the Christian life is an obligation. With Him, it is an adventure. Without Him, witnessing is an embarrassment. With Him, it is an explosion.

*The Pentecost Life: Living Every Day in the Fire.*
The Azusa Street Revival and the Jerusalem upper room share one irreducible secret: complete surrender. Seymour’s congregation did not come to be entertained — they came to be emptied and then filled. The Jerusalem disciples did not tarry as a religious exercise — they tarried because they were utterly convinced that what Christ had promised was worth waiting for with every fibre of their being.
Beloved, Pentecost is not merely a date on the liturgical calendar — it is a daily posture of the soul. *_“Be filled with the Spirit”_* (Ephesians 5:18, NKJV) is written in the present continuous tense — be being filled, again and again, moment by moment, day by day. The Pentecostal life is not a one-time experience to be fondly remembered; it is a continuous, renewable, ever-deepening immersion in the person and power of the Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit — fall afresh. Fill every empty vessel. Ignite every cold heart. Empower every waiting witness. For when the fire falls, nothing — absolutely nothing — ever remains the same!
*_“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh.”_* — Acts 2:17 (NKJV). ✝️❤️🔥🦅

*Prayer 9 — _For the Spiritually Dry and Burned Out_*

*Prayer 11 — _For Nigeria: A Nation Needing Holy Fire_*
Title: Fire on the Nation’s Altar –
_“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face…”_ — 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV).
*_Father of nations, send Pentecost fire upon Nigeria! Burn away the corruption, the bloodshed, and the moral collapse — and raise up Spirit-filled leaders, intercessors, and reformers who will rebuild our nation on righteous foundations, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
*Prayer 12 — _For Families to Be Filled Together._*
Title: The Spirit Upon Our Households –
_“…your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.”_ — Acts 2:17 (NKJV).
*_Lord Jesus, let the Pentecost fire fall upon our entire households! Fill our spouses, our children, our parents, and our extended families with Your Spirit — and let every home represented here become a centre of prayer, praise, and prophetic witness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
*Prayer 13 — _For Signs, Wonders, and Miracles_*
Title: Wonders in Heaven and Signs on Earth –
_“And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath.”_ — Acts 2:19 (NKJV).
*_God of signs and wonders, let supernatural confirmation accompany the proclamation of this congregation! Let healings, deliverances, and undeniable miracles authenticate the gospel we preach — to the glory of Your Name alone, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
*Prayer 14 — _Sealing Prayer of Pentecost Consecration._*
Title: Sealed With the Holy Spirit –
_“…you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance.”_ — Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV).
*_Father, seal every soul touched by this Pentecost Word with the Holy Spirit of promise! Let no flame kindled today be quenched by the world, the flesh, or the enemy — but let it burn brighter with every passing day, until the coming of our Lord, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
🎵 *CLOSING HYMN.*
*MHB. 292 — _“Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart”_*
1: COME, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;
Kindle a flame of sacred love
In these cold hearts of ours.
2: In vain we tune our formal songs,
In vain we strive to rise;
Hosannas languish on our tongues,
And our devotion dies.
3: And shall we then forever live
At this poor dying rate?
Our love so faint, so cold to Thee,
And Thine to us so great!
4: Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;
Come, shed abroad the Saviour’s love,
And that shall kindle ours. Amen.
(The hymn *_“Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart”_* (MHB 292 in the Methodist Hymn Book) is a classic prayer for the Holy Spirit’s presence.
• Author/Lyricist: Rev. George Croly (1780–1860), an Irish-born Anglican minister. He first published it in 1854 under the title “Holiness Desired”.
