1: SOLDIERS of Christ, arise,

And put your armour on,

Strong in the strength which God supplies

Through His eternal Son.

2: Strong in the Lord of hosts,

And in His mighty power;

Who in the strength of Jesus trusts

Is more than conqueror.

3: Stand then in His great might,

With all His strength endued;

But take, to arm you for the fight,

The panoply of God.

4: Leave no unguarded place,

No weakness of the soul;

Take every virtue, every grace,

And fortify the whole.

_(Charles Wesley, 1749 — The definitive Wesleyan-Methodist call to spiritual warfare, a direct musical expansion of the Ephesians 6 passage: there is to be no unguarded place and no unarmed believer in Christ’s army — a magnificent frame for this message.)_

⚔️👑❤️‍🔥

When Paul wrote his letter to the Ephesians, he was in a Roman prison, chained to a Praetorian guard. As he dictated the passage on the armour of God, the sermon illustration was standing in the cell beside him. The soldier’s heavy leather belt securing the uniform, the burnished metal breastplate protecting the chest and vital organs, the iron-studded sandals enabling stable footing on any terrain, the great rectangular shield used in interlocking formation to quench incoming flaming arrows, the helmet, the short sword — all of it was before Paul’s eyes as he described the spiritual armour of the believer. The Roman soldier did not dress reactively, in response to the enemy’s announced arrival. He dressed daily, as a matter of identity and discipline. He was never off duty, never found without his equipment, because the enemy’s timing was never announced in advance. Paul looked at his captor and saw the Church’s armour manual standing right there. His instruction to us is not complicated: *dress like you are already in a battle — because you are.*

⚔️👑❤️‍🔥

*Be Strong — In His Might, Not Your Own.*

Paul begins not with the armour but with the source: *_“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”_* (v.10). The armour does not generate strength; it channels it. No belt, breastplate, or shield works on the wearer’s energy alone—each piece derives its effectiveness from the One who supplies it. The first preparation for spiritual warfare is not tactical but relational: abiding in the strength of the Lord who stands behind the armour and wears it through you.

⚔️👑❤️‍🔥

*The Whole Armour — Nothing Optional.*

*_“Put on the whole armour of God”_* (v.11) — the Greek *panoplia* means the complete, comprehensive equipment of a soldier. There is no optional piece. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God — each serves a specific defensive or offensive function, and the unprotected area is precisely where the enemy strikes. The belt of truth secures everything else; without it, the breastplate shifts, the sandals slip, and you can’t carry the sword effectively. Beloved, the enemy isn’t looking for your strongest point—he is searching for your unguarded one.

⚔️👑❤️‍🔥

*The Nobleman’s Shield — Faith That Does Not Wait for Sight.*

John’s Gospel presents a nobleman whose son lay dying in Capernaum while Jesus stood in Cana—roughly twenty miles away. He comes to Jesus urgently: *_“Sir, come down before my child dies”_* (v.49). Jesus responds not with a physical journey but with a declared word: *_“Go your way; your son lives”_* (v.50). And the nobleman *believed the word that Jesus spoke to him* — and turned and went (v.50). This is the shield of faith at full extension: accepting the word of God as settled reality before physical evidence appears. The servants met him on the road, confirming that his son had recovered at the very hour Jesus spoke. Faith that demands proof before believing has already set the shield down — and the fiery darts are already in the air.

Beloved, you are not going into a battle. You are already in one. Put on the whole armour — every piece, every day — and *having done all, to stand* (v.13).

*_“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”_* — Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV). ✝️❤️‍🔥🦅

🙏✝️❤️‍🔥 *SEVEN INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*

*_Post-Exhortation — Prophetic Charismatic Warfare_*

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 8 — _Against Every Unguarded Place._*

Title: Every Exposed Area Covered by the Blood.

_“Put on the whole armour of God.”_ — Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_My Father, My God — we cover every unguarded place in the lives of this congregation with the blood of Jesus! We command the enemy to find no entry point or undefended gap in this community’s armour, consumed by Holy Ghost fire, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 9 — _Against the Wiles of the Devil._*

Title: Every Scheme and Strategy of the Enemy Exposed and Dismantled.

_“That you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”_ — Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_Omniscient God, expose every wile, trap, and deceptive strategy the enemy has deployed against this congregation! We dismantle every scheme before it matures by the authority of Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 10 — _For the Shield of Faith Raised Corporately._*

Title: This Congregation Standing as One Interlocked Shield-Wall.

_“Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”_ — Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_God of the corporate battle, let this congregation raise their shields of faith together — interlocked, immovable, and impenetrable! Let not one fiery dart find an unshielded soul in this assembly, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 11 — _For the Sword of the Spirit Sharpened._*

Title: The Word of God Going Forth with Precision and Power.

_“And take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”_ — Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_God of the living Word, sharpen the sword of Your Spirit in the mouth of every believer in this congregation! Let the Word go forth from this community with cutting accuracy against every stronghold in this city, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 12 — For Unceasing Intercession.*

Title: Prayer Sustaining This Community’s Battle-Readiness.

_“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”_* — Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_Father, let a spirit of unceasing, Spirit-empowered prayer saturate this congregation! Let the armour never rust from disuse but remain fully operational through unbroken communion with You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 13 — _For Christ’s Good News Mission: An Armed and Ready Army._*

Title: This Ministry Standing Dressed, Fortified, and Undefeated.

_“Therefore, take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”_ — Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_Lord Jesus, we decree that Christ’s Good News Mission stands dressed in the whole armour of God — truth-girded, righteousness-protected, faith-shielded, and Word-armed! Let this ministry withstand every evil day and stand undefeated, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

❤️‍🔥 *Prayer 14 — _The Warfare Benediction._*

Title: Sent Out Fully Armoured and Battle-Ready.

*_“Having done all, to stand.”_* — Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV).

❤️‍🔥 *_My Father, My God — seal every soul departing this sanctuary today with the complete armour of God fastened firmly in place! Let them go into this city this week fully dressed for the battle they are already in — standing and not retreating, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️‍🔥

🎵 *CLOSING HYMN MHB. 472 — _“Am I a Soldier of the Cross?”_*

🔍 YouTube Search: *_“Am I a Soldier of the Cross — Isaac Watts, Methodist Hymn Book, the 1884 Edition, Canada.”_*

1: AM I a soldier of the cross,

A follower of the Lamb?

And shall I fear to own His cause,

Or blush to speak His Name?

2: Must I be carried to the skies

On flowery beds of ease,

While others fought to win the prize,

And sailed through bloody seas?

3: Are there no foes for me to face?

Must I not stem the flood?

Is this vile world a friend to grace,

To help me on to God?

4: Sure I must fight if I would reign;

Increase my courage, Lord;

I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,

Supported by Thy Word.

_(Isaac Watts, 1724 — A martial hymn of honest self-examination and battle-readiness that perfectly seals this message: the Christian life is not a recreational cruise but an armed campaign, and Watts refuses to permit any believer to mistake comfort for faithfulness or ease for calling.)_
