1: LO, He comes with clouds descending,
Once for favoured sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
Swell the triumph of His train:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
God appears on earth to reign.
2: Every eye shall now behold Him,
Robed in dreadful majesty;
Those who set at nought and sold Him,
Pierced, and nailed Him to the tree,
Deeply wailing, deeply wailing,
Shall the true Messiah see.
3: Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear;
All His saints, by man rejected,
Now shall meet Him in the air:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
See the day of God appear.
4: Yea, Amen! let all adore Thee,
High on Thine eternal throne;
Saviour, take the power and glory,
Claim the kingdom for Thine own:
O come quickly! O come quickly!
Alleluia! Come, Lord, come!
(Charles Wesley, 1758 — Perhaps the greatest Advent-eschatological hymn in the entire Methodist hymnal, a triumphant proclamation of Christ’s return, perfectly framing this closing message on watchfulness for the Bridegroom.)

✍️ *Text: _“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”_* — Matthew 25:13 (NKJV).
🍇👑❤️🔥
On 25th April 1986, at 1:23 a.m., the Chernobyl nuclear disaster began not with an obvious catastrophic failure, but with a routine systems test that operators believed they had adequately prepared for. Investigators later determined that critical safety measures — designed for exactly this kind of scenario — had been quietly disabled or neglected in the weeks prior, precisely because the anticipated emergency seemed distant and improbable. When the actual crisis arrived, it arrived suddenly, catastrophically, and with no opportunity for last-minute preparation. The lesson echoed across the nuclear industry for decades: readiness cultivated only in hindsight is not readiness at all.
Beloved, Jesus tells the parable of ten virgins awaiting a bridegroom’s arrival at a wedding celebration — a scenario deeply familiar to His first-century audience, where the bridegroom’s exact arrival time remained genuinely unknown, sometimes stretching late into the night.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Delay: Testing the Depth of Preparation.*
*_“While the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept”_* (Matthew 25:5). Notice — both wise and foolish virgins fell asleep during the delay. The distinguishing factor was never wakefulness in the moment of testing; it was preparation made long before the test arrived. The wise virgins *_“took oil in their vessels with their lamps”_* (v.4) — advance provision, not last-minute scrambling.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Crisis: Oil That Cannot Be Borrowed.*
At midnight, the cry arrives: *_“Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” (v.6). The foolish virgins, lamps sputtering, beg the wise: “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out”_* (v.8). But the wise refuse — not from selfishness, but from spiritual realism: “lest there should not be enough for us and you” (v.9). Beloved, some spiritual realities cannot be transferred at the last moment. Your relationship with Christ, your personal walk of faith, your own reservoir of the Spirit’s oil — these cannot be borrowed from another soul’s account when the cry finally sounds.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Door Shut: The Terror of Being Almost Ready.*
The foolish virgins return from buying oil only to find *_“the door was shut”_* (v.10), and hear the devastating response: “I do not know you” (v.12). This is Scripture’s most sobering warning about proximity without genuine relationship. They were near the wedding, aware of the Bridegroom, participants in the wait — yet ultimately unknown to Him.
🍇👑❤️🔥
*The Blessed Hope: Purifying, Not Merely Predicting.*
Paul frames this same anticipation not as fearful speculation but as purifying motivation: *_“looking for the blessed hope… denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age”_* (Titus 2:12-13). And to the grieving Thessalonians, he offers this hope as comfort, not merely doctrine: *_“comfort one another with these words”_* (1 Thessalonians 4:18) — the dead in Christ rising first, the living caught up together with them, an eternal reunion secured.
Beloved, the Bridegroom is coming — perhaps sooner than any of us anticipate. The question is not whether you are aware of His coming. The question is whether your lamp has been faithfully oiled through years of quiet devotion, or whether you are hoping to borrow readiness at midnight, when it will already be too late.
*_“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”_* — Matthew 25:13 (NKJV). ✝️❤️🔥🦅
🙏✝️❤️🔥 *SEVEN INTERCESSORY PRAYERS*
*_(Post-Exhortation — Prophetic Charismatic Warfare)_*
❤️🔥 *Prayer 8 — _Against Spiritual Slumber_*
Title: Every Soul Awakened From Complacency.
_“While the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.”_ — Matthew 25:5 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, My God — we awaken every soul in this congregation from spiritual slumber and complacency! We command the sleep of delay-induced apathy to break RIGHT NOW, consumed by Holy Ghost fire, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 9 — _For Oil Secured in Advance._*
Title: Every Lamp Filled Before the Midnight Cry.
_“But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.”_ — Matthew 25:4 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Spirit of God, fill every vessel in this congregation with the oil of Your Presence now, before any crisis demands it! Let no believer here approach the midnight hour with an empty lamp, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 10 — _Against the Door Being Shut._*
Title: Genuine Relationship Secured, Not Mere Proximity.
_“Afterward, the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered, ‘I do not know you.'”_ — Matthew 25:11-12 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Lord Jesus, we cry out that no soul connected to this congregation would ever hear “I do not know you”! Let every believer cultivate a genuine, intimate relationship with You, not mere religious proximity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 11 — _For Purifying Hope._*
Title: Godly Living Produced by Expectation of Christ’s Return.
_“Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.”_ — Titus 2:12 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Purifying God, let the expectation of Christ’s imminent return purge every trace of ungodliness and worldly compromise from this congregation! Let holy living flow naturally from watchful hope, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 12 — _For the Grieving, Comforted by Resurrection Hope._*
Title: Sorrow Transformed Into Confident Expectation.
_“Comfort one another with these words.”_ — 1 Thessalonians 4:18 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_God of all comfort, minister profound peace to every soul mourning loved ones in this congregation! Let the certain hope of resurrection and reunion silence every fear that death has the final word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 13 — _For Christ’s Good News Mission: A Watching Ministry._*
Title: This Mission Found Ready at His Appearing.
_“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”_ — Matthew 25:13 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_Lord Jesus, we decree that Christ’s Good News Mission remains perpetually watchful, lamps trimmed and burning, ready for Your sudden return! Let every worker, minister, and member be found faithful at Your appearing, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
❤️🔥 *Prayer 14 — _The Warfare Benediction._*
Title: Sent Out Watching and Ready.
_“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.”_ — Titus 2:13 (NKJV).
❤️🔥 *_My Father, My God — seal every soul departing this sanctuary today with lamps trimmed, oil secured, and hearts fixed on the Blessed Hope! Let them live this week as those who watch daily for the Bridegroom’s imminent return, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!_* ❤️🔥
🎵 *CLOSING HYMN MHB. 264 — _“Rejoice, the Lord Is King”_*
🔍 YouTube Search: “Rejoice the Lord Is King — Charles Wesley, Standard Major Mainstream Hymnals #264”
1: REJOICE, the Lord is King!
Your Lord and King adore;
Rejoice, give thanks, and sing,
And triumph evermore:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
*_Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!_*
2: Jesus, the Saviour, reigns,
The God of truth and love;
When He had purged our stains,
He took His seat above:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
*_Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!_*
3: His kingdom cannot fail,
He rules o’er earth and heaven;
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus given:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
4: He sits at God’s right hand
Till all His foes submit,
And bow to His command,
And fall beneath His feet:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
*_Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!_*
5: Rejoice in glorious hope!
Our Lord, the Judge, shall come,
And take His servants up
To their eternal home:
We soon shall hear the archangel’s voice;
*_The trump of God shall sound, rejoice!_*
(Charles Wesley, 1744 — A hymn of triumphant, joyful anticipation of Christ’s return, perfectly sealing this entire cycle of sermons — from PSK 151’s sufficient grace through PSK 160’s blessed hope — with an unshakeable note of victorious rejoicing.)
