💕🦅   *BIBLE PASSAGE: Ezekiel 37:1-14* (NKJV). 🦅 💕

*Ezekiel 37:1-14* (NKJV):

  1. *_The hand of the LORD came upon me, brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down amid the valley, which was full of bones._*

  1. *_Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were many in the open valley; indeed, they were scorched._*

  1. *_He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord GOD, You know.”_*

  1. *_Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!’_*

  1. *_Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live._*

  1. *_I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin, and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the LORD.”’_*

  1. *_So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone._*

  1. *_Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over, but there was no breath in them._*

  1. *_Also, He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”’_*

  1. *_So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army._*

  1. *_Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we are cut off!’_*

  1. *_Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from them, and bring you into the land of Israel._*

  1. *_Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves._*

  1. *_I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the LORD.’”_*🦅💕

💕🦅  Our Hymn:

Title:  *O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go*

Author:       *Matheson, George* (1842-1906).

Year of writing: *(1882)*

Meter:         *8.8.8.8.6*

*1.*

O love that will not let me go,

I rest my weary soul in thee.

I give thee back the life I owe,

That in thine oceans depths its flow.

May richer fuller be.

*2.*

O light that followest all my way,

I yield my flickering torch to thee.

My heart restores its borrowed ray,

That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day,

May brighter fairer be.

*3.*

O joy that seekest me through pain,

I cannot close my heart to thee.

I chase the rainbow through the rain,

And feel the promise is not vain.

That morn shall tearless be.

*4.*

O cross that liftest up my head,

I dare not ask to fly from thee.

I lay in dust’s life’s glory dead,

And from the ground, there blossoms red.

Life that shall endless be.

*ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND THE HYMN!*

*Matheson, George*, D.D., was born on March 27, 1842. He suffered poor eyesight from birth and, at age 15, learned that he was going blind.  Not discouraged, he enrolled at the University of Glasgow and graduated at 19.  He then began theological studies. It was while pursuing those that he became blind. He graduated with M.A. in 1862. In 1868, he became a minister. He was a Baird Lecturer in 1881. He published this important poetical piece, “O Love that wilt not let me go”, in 1882. He died in 1906.

*_O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go”_* was written on the evening of Matheson’s sister’s marriage. Since he was blind from an early age, his sister had been the one to care for him through the years, but now she was gone. He was 40, and his sister’s marriage brought a fresh reminder of his heartbreak.

Each of the four stanzas begins with a keyword — Love, Light, Joy and Cross — that are attributes of his relationship with Christ and names given to Christ. Love is a haven for a “weary soul” as deep as the “ocean.”

The second stanza focuses on light, which illuminates the singer’s way. Our “flickering torch” is augmented by the “sunshine’s blaze” of Christ, the world’s Light.

Stanza three is one of Joy — a joy that seeks for us “through pain.” The “rainbow” promises hope following the rain, indicating that “morn shall tearless be.”

The Cross is the theme of the concluding stanza. Through Christ’s suffering on the cross, “blossoms red” are formed, which leads to the birth of new life.

When Matheson “wrote ‘blossoms red’… he, most probably, was thinking of the blossom that comes out of sacrifice— the sacrificial life which blossoms by shedding itself. ‘White’ is the blossom of prosperity, ‘red’ of self-sacrificing love.”

The critical lesson in this hymn is that:

We all suffer some heartbreak, disappointment, or disability at some point. Our response makes all the difference—whether we let the hardship stop us or inspire us to make a more significant effort.

As this hymn reveals, his faith in God kept him going through the adversities he suffered. He believed that God’s love would not let him go, that God’s light would follow him all his way, that God’s joy would seek him through his pain, and that faith made all the difference.

Beloved in Christ, today we gather, faced with a powerful theme: *_“The Power of Restoration.”_* In Ezekiel 37, we witness the miraculous revival of dry bones, a stunning metaphor for God’s ability to restore life, hope, and purpose. Observe that each title at the Prayer Raid makes a salient contribution to our need for God’s Restoration—where the breath of life brings resurgence to our deadness, the broken-hearted receives the miracle of wholeness, mourning gives way to dancing and joy, we transform from chaotic realities to peace, we jettison despair to receive hope, and we move from our isolation’s loneliness to the companionship of community. May this sermon revive hearts with the gracious light of Christ’s Redemptive Power, in Jesus’ Name! ✝️🔥

As we reflect on these, may the Holy Spirit open our hearts to the transformative power of Jesus Christ, who can restore every area of our lives. Amen

*The Power of Restoration Defined:*

Restoration signifies the act of bringing back to a former position, state, or condition. In the context of Christ-like living, it embodies the renewing of our relationship with God, ourselves, and others. The importance of restoration lies in its ability to:

– *_Heal Wounds:_* It restores what has been broken or lost, whether relationships, vitality, or faith.

– *_Renew Hope:_* It affirms that the past doesn’t dictate our future.

– *_Empower Change:_* Restoration equips us to live transformed lives that reflect Christ’s image.

The impact of restoration on our renewed Christian life is monumental. It allows us to live with purpose, free from the chains of guilt, shame, and past failures and moves us toward a hopeful future.

Let me tell you a True-to-Life Story, which echoes the theme of restoration. Dave, a promising, young Church worker suddenly stopped coming to Church and efforts to reach him proved abortive. After years of expectation a Youth Pastor found him grappling with substance abuse! He had found himself trapped in addiction, a lifestyle that left him isolated and hopeless. As he was brought back to the Church against his will, he encountered a community of believers who embodied God’s love—a group that didn’t shun him but welcomed him with open arms. The members reminded him of Jesus’ message of grace and restoration – with loving care. They provided his daily needs, and another healthcare counsellor gave him expert Medicare.

With their support and the transformative power of faith, Dave embarked on a recovery journey, ultimately finding the strength to heal himself and reach out and help others battling similar demons. His story showcases the profound effects of restoration when one embraces God’s unconditional love—he became a living testament to the idea that no one is beyond redemption.

This story is beautifully captured in the hymn, *“O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go.”* In this hymn, Matheson reflects on the relentless love of God, emphasising that even in our darkest moments, God’s light seeks to restore us. The words resonate with Dave’s journey—the love that wouldn’t let him go, the light that guided him, and the joy that filled his heart through pain.

From the grace I had in Counselling Dave, I got a few lessons:

  1. *Community Matters:* Just as Dave found restoration in a community of faith, we also need the support of our brethren to experience true healing.

  1. *Our restoration has due process.* In our intimacy with the Almighty, His rhetorical questions are essential for healing. And so does our obedience to His directives. (Ezekiel 37:1-4).
  2. Ezekiel 37:5-6 tells us that we must not believe in our problems beyond our eagerness to prophesy to our situations with the instrumentality of God’s Promises! Our hope must be rekindled in His Promises!
  3. The prophet followed God’s directives without giving up when his expectations seemed not forthcoming. The prophet said the bones received sinews, skin and flesh, but the breath was not there yet. (Ezekiel 37:7-8.) We followed God’s word concerning Dave, or else his rehabilitation and psychiatric follow-up would have caused us more pain than our faith could have afforded!
  4. In Ezekiel 37:9-10, God commanded the Prophet to prophesy to the winds in the cardinal points. God knows the way through the wilderness: We only need to follow. A miracle will always happen when we don’t give up before seeing our expectations.

  1. *Unconditional Love:* The divine love of Christ constantly seeks to restore—not condemn. Dave was healed as we ministered to him by God’s directives and in love. The youths did everything to support him, and our Church Community took Dave as our own! This illustrates that no matter the depth of our struggles or afflictions, God’s love always provides a pathway to restoration.

I will also need us to focus on this additional information:

I will also need us to focus on this additional information:

  1. *The Need for Restoration:*

Ezekiel 37:2 speaks of dry bones—an imagery of despair and loss. Many in our world today walk in despair. Whether it is the challenges we face in our spiritual journey, personal struggles, finances, or societal issues, the need for restoration is universal.

  1. *The Call to Accept Restoration:*

In Ezekiel 37:12, God promises to open graves and bring His people out. This is a call to action—an invitation to step out of our graves of despair, whether spiritual, emotional, financial, or relational. We are invited to accept this gift of restoration.

  1. *The Process of Restoration:*

Restoration often requires participation. God calls us (ministers or caregivers) to prophesy, to declare His promises over each other’s lives. It involves active faith—a movement towards God in obedience and trust.

  1. *Application and Challenge:*

We must reflect on where we need restoration in our lives today. Do we need a rescue from indebtedness, emotional healing, business revival, or reconciled relationships? This call to restoration is also a challenge to live out our faith actively—seeking personal restoration and the restoration of our communities and nation.

  1. *The Call to Accept Restoration:*

In Ezekiel 37:12, God promises to open graves and bring His people out. This is a call to action—an invitation to step out of our graves of despair, whether spiritual, emotional, financial, or relational. We are invited to stop believing in the realities that Satan auto-suggests to us as our portion but confess positively and accept this gift of restoration. We must stop thinking the worst about our Nation, Community, Church, people and personal experiences but prophesy the positive versions of what troubles our minds, calling God to intervene instead of giving up!

  1. *The Process of Restoration:*

Restoration often requires participation. God calls us (ministers or caregivers) to prophesy, to declare His promises over each other’s lives. It involves active faith—a movement toward God in obedience and trust. God’s significant provisions often enjoin us to add work to our faith. You need to work before you have access to your needs. You must believe in God’s ability to help you before you pray and take the step of faith!

  1. *Application and Challenge:*

We must reflect on where we need restoration in our lives today. Do we need rescue from indebtedness? Do you need emotional healing, business revival, or reconciliation in relationships? This call to restoration also challenges us to actively live out our faith—seeking personal restoration and restoration of our communities and nation. Selflessness is the key: You are blessed to bless others.

At this juncture, I am led to apply our discourse to different aspects of life:

  1. *_To the Individual Seeking Righteousness:_* Restoration means turning back to God and accepting His grace, knowing that our sins are forgiven. Then, he said that when we genuinely seek God’s face, we do not need to revisit the forgiveness prayer all the time when we are genuine. But whenever we err, we must have a Godly remorsefulness and seek God, becoming disciplined to avoid falling back into our vomit. Then, God can relate with us and solve our debilitating concerns.
  2. *_To the Corporate Firm/Business:_* Companies must seek ethical restoration and align their practices with Godly principles to thrive.
  3. *_To Marriages Under Stress:_* Restoration in marriages requires communication, forgiveness, genuine love, Openness of the spouses’ hearts to each other, and the commitment to allow God to mend what is broken.
  4. *To the Atheistic Person:* The message of restoration extends to those seeking God’s truth. Knowing that God can restore one’s life provides an invitation to explore faith.
  5. *To National Leaders:* True leadership calls for acknowledging past mistakes, genuinely making amends, and working towards a vision that restores the nation with integrity and humility.

As we conclude, let us reflect on *“The Power of God’s Restoration.”* Just as Ezekiel witnessed the revival of dry bones, we, too, can experience restoration in every facet of our lives. Let us embrace Christ’s redemptive love by giving our lives to him. If we already have, we must rededicate our lives to Him, recognising that there is always hope and healing through Him.

May we walk in victory, empowered by His Spirit, proclaiming the goodness of God as we journey through restoration together, in Jesus’ Name.

We must pray for the strength to accept this gift of restoration and allow it to transform our lives and those around us.

Just as Ezekiel witnessed the revival of dry bones, we, too, can experience restoration in every facet of our lives. To please Him, we must have faith in His existence and ability to reward us: Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) clarifies, *_“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is_* (God exists) *_“and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”_* Let us embrace Christ’s redemptive love by giving our lives to him. May you continue to receive power to excel, unmerited favour, love and grace to overcome evil, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

HAVE A GLORIOUS MARCH AND A SUCCESS-FILLED JOURNEY INTO DIVINE FULFILMENT, in Jesus’ Name. 🌹
