*Psalm 37:5* (NKJV): _“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”_*

🦅 *ILLUSTRATION* ✨🌹
A Chess Olympiad master player once played against a computer. Midway through the game, a novice observer questioned one of the master’s moves, calling it seemingly foolish. The master smiled and said, *_“You see only this move; I see the victory ten moves ahead.”_* Hours later, that ‘foolish’ move proved to be the key to his triumph. Similarly, when we surrender our ways to God, what appear as setbacks or delays are often His strategic positioning for our ultimate victory. God sees the end from the beginning, orchestrating every detail for our good.
🦅 *BODY OF SERMON* ✨🌹
*_SITUATION: The Human Dilemma_*
Beloved, we live in an age where self-reliance is celebrated while dependence is scorned. Modern man believes he can chart his own course, plan his future, and secure his own success. We clutch our dreams, guard our plans, and resist any interference—even from the Almighty God. Yet, the Scripture declares in Jeremiah 10:23, *_“O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”_*
David – the psalmist – understood this truth profoundly. In our text, Psalm 37:5, he doesn’t suggest we “help God order our ways” or “collaborate with God in ordering our ways.” He commands us to “commit” our way to the Lord—a complete handover, a total surrender!
*_COMPLICATION: The Cost of Self-Direction_*
When we insist on ordering our own way, we inevitably face complications. Consider King Saul, who couldn’t wait for Samuel and offered the sacrifice himself (1 Samuel 13:8-14). His impatience cost him his kingdom. Consider Abraham, who couldn’t wait for God’s promise and took Hagar, creating a generational conflict that persists today.
The complications of self-direction include:
– *_Anxiety and Stress:_* “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).
– *_Missed Divine Opportunities:_* Our limited vision causes us to miss God’s better plans
– *_Spiritual Stagnation:_* Self-reliance distances us from intimate dependence on God
– *_Premature Actions:_* We move before God’s timing, creating unnecessary obstacles
*_RESOLUTION: The Divine Order_*
But praise God, there’s a resolution! When we genuinely leave God to order all our ways, He takes full responsibility for our lives. The Hebrew word for “commit” in our text is *_“galal,”_* meaning to roll upon, to trust completely, to cast all our care upon Him.
Notice the promise: *_“and He shall bring it to pass.”_* Not “He might” or “He could”—but *_“He SHALL.”_* This is God’s covenant guarantee to those who trust Him completely.
Consider Joseph, who trusted God through slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment. God ordered his ways to make him the prime minister of Egypt. Reflect about Ruth, who left her gods to follow Naomi’s God—He ordered her ways into the lineage of Christ!
🦅 *APPLICATION* ✨🌹
*_i. To the Penitent, Troubled Soul Seeking Christ’s Touch._*
Dear friend, your past failures do not disqualify you from God’s ordering. *_“Come now, and let us reason together,”_* says the Lord. *_“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow”_* (Isaiah 1:18). Surrender your broken heart to Him today—He specialises in adorable restoration.
*ii. To the Inter-Faith Community.*
To our friends of different faiths, we invite you to consider the uniqueness of Christ’s invitation. He doesn’t merely offer guidance—He offers to take complete responsibility for your life’s direction. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me'” (John 14:6).
*_iii. To the Atheistic Person_*
It is enough that you question God’s existence, Dearly Beloved. We understand your scepticism. Yet consider this: if there’s even a possibility that an all-knowing, all-loving God exists who desires to order your ways for good, wouldn’t it be worth investigating? *_“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that HE EXISTS and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him”_* (Hebrews 11:6).
*_iv. To the Business Organisation in Peril_*
Corporate leaders, your strategic plans and market analyses have their place, but ultimate success belongs to the Lord. *_“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it”_* (Psalm 127:1). Seek His wisdom in your boardrooms, His ethics in your practices, His favour in your endeavours.
*_v. To Leaders in Government_*
Honourable leaders in politics, governing is a divine mandate. *_“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the existing authorities are appointed by God”_* (Romans 13:1). Set your heart to lead with righteousness, seek divine counsel, and remember that you serve under the Holy and Ultimate Authority.
*_vi. To Ecclesiastical Leaders_*
Fellow servants of God, we who shepherd His flock must first completely surrender our own ways to Him. *_“Shepherd the flock of God, which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly”_* (1 Peter 5:2). Our ministries flourish only when ordered by His divine hand.

Beloved people of God, I challenge you to move beyond mere religion to an authentic relationship with Christ today. Religion is man’s attempt to reach God; Christianity is God reaching down to man through Jesus Christ. Will you today make that irrevocable decision to give the grace to the Living God—not tradition, not denomination, not ritual—to order ALL your ways? This requires death to self-will and resurrection to His perfect will. *_Let us rise up to pray:_*

If you have been struggling to order your own ways, if you’ve been carrying burdens too heavy for human shoulders, if you’ve been trying to navigate life’s complexities with your limited wisdom—this is your moment of liberation.
I’m calling for three categories of people to come forward:
*_First,_* those who have never surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ—today, let God begin to order your ways through salvation.
*_Second,_* backsliders who have drifted from God’s ordering—return to your first love and let Him restore your path.
*_Third,_* committed believers who struggle with control—come and make a fresh commitment to leave God to order ALL your ways.
Don’t let this moment pass. Your breakthrough, your peace, your victory lies in this surrender. Come now, as we sing our closing hymn, and let God take complete control of your ways.

More than ever before, Nigeria needs GOD, not Religion: The arm of flesh will fail us. Pray for the President, Leaders of the Executive and Legislature of the three-tiers of Government, with the Judges and other leaders in our Nation, Nigeria!
Leave that part of the political class you cannot bend to become godly, to God: It is the wise counsel to those who know *_that GOD exists, being the earnest rewarder of those who trust Him._*
What a delight to align with God’s words in Hebrews 11:6 –
*_“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that HE EXISTS and that He rewards those who seek Him”._*
Much evil happened in our Nation’s History: *Today, it remains sacrosanct for our citizens to get closer to GOD in penitence, rather than pushing HIM away: It is our only hope!* 🤩
We only need to *diligently do our own parts faithfully,* without wasting our energy in murmuring. *Then, calling on God will be a delight.*
At these times of sombre reflection, when *the die is cast* and the outcome of seeking HELP from the only available source is now inevitable and cannot be changed, the God-believing Patriots will never stop believing in God to bring the good times back to Nigeria.
