Imagine if you will, the throne room of the Almighty God!

Picture the crystal sea, the rainbow around the throne, and the four living creatures who never cease worshipping. From eternity to eternity, one song echoes through the corridors of heaven: *_“Holy, Holy, Holy!”_*

 

When the great hymn writer Reginald Heber penned “Holy, Holy, Holy” in 1826, he could not have imagined that this sacred composition would become the theological masterpiece that captures the very essence of our Triune God. Like a skilled artist painting a portrait of the Divine, each verse reveals another dimension of God’s triune nature.

 

Today, we embark on a sacred journey through this magnificent hymn, discovering how its sonorous tunes unveil the mystery of the Trinity—Three Persons, One God, united in perfect love, power, and purpose!

In the Old Testament, the morning sacrifice was the first act of devotion. Heber understood this principle—our first thoughts, first words, first songs should ascend to our Triune God.

Even the mighty seraphim, whose very name means *_“burning ones,”_* cannot stand in the presence of the Holy Trinity. If angels fall prostrate, how much more should we humble ourselves before our Triune God?

 

*The Golden Crowns:*

 

These represent all earthly achievements, honours, and accomplishments. In heaven’s economy, our most significant achievements become offerings to the Trinity. Every victory, every success, every crown we earn on earth finds its ultimate purpose when laid at the feet of our Triune God.

 

*Challenge:*

What *_“golden crowns”_* do you need to cast before the Lord today? Your talents, achievements, and pride must bow before the Trinity!

🔥 *MAIN POINT 3: THE MERCIFUL AND MIGHTY GOD – _DIVINE ATTRIBUTES REVEALED_* 🦅

*Perfect in Power* – God the Father’s Omnipotence

Every sunrise is a morning hymn to the Trinity! Every sunset, a vespers service!

 

Every thunderclap, a bass note in creation’s symphony! Every bird’s song, a soprano in the celestial choir!

 

 

*Challenge:*

When did you last hear creation’s praise?

 

In our concrete jungles and digital world, we must tune our ears to hear the ancient song that all creation sings to our Triune God!

 

 

🔥 *MAIN POINT 5: THE ESCHATOLOGICAL TRINITY – _ETERNAL WORSHIP IN PERSPECTIVE_* 🦅

 

*The Eternal Context of Trinitarian Worship:*

 

John Wesley once said, *_“I want to know one thing—the way to heaven; how to land safe on that happy shore. God Himself has condescended to teach the way.”_*

 

This hymn points us to that eternal shore where the Trinity is worshipped forever!

 

 

*Revelation’s Trinitarian Vision: The Father on the Throne*

 

(Revelation 4:2-3) *_“Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance”_*

*Challenge:*

Begin each day with Trinitarian worship:

– *To the Father:* “Thank You for creating this new day”

– *To the Son:* “Thank You for redeeming my life”

– *To the Holy Spirit:* “Thank You for guiding me today”

Charles Spurgeon would rise at 4.00 A.M. every morning, and his first words were always *_“Holy, Holy, Holy!”_* He believed that greeting the Trinity first thing each morning set the spiritual tone for his entire day.

 

*Application 2: Trinitarian Prayer Life.*

– *Approach the Father* through Jesus’ Name.

– *Intercede through the Son’s* merit and sacrifice.

– *Depend on the Holy Spirit* for utterance and interpretation.

*Romans 8:26-27 _“The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us”_*

*Truth 1: _The Trinity is Mystery, Not Contradiction._*

Augustine was walking by the seashore, pondering the Trinity, when he saw a child trying to empty the ocean into a small hole with a shell. *_“Impossible!”_* Augustine said.

The child replied, *_“More possible than for your finite mind to comprehend the infinite Trinity!”_*

*Application:*

We don’t need to understand the Trinity to worship the Trinity fully. Mystery invites worship, not scepticism!

*Truth 2: _The Trinity is Personal, Not Philosophical_*

Each Person of the Trinity desires a personal relationship with you:

– *The Father* calls you His child (1 John 3:1).

– *The Son* calls you His friend (John 15:15).

– *The Holy Spirit* calls you His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19).

*Truth 3: _The Trinity is Active, Not Abstract._*

 

– *The Father* is working (John 5:17).

– *The Son* is interceding (Romans 8:34).

– *The Holy Spirit* is teaching (John 14:26).

*Truth 4: _The Trinity is Unified, Not Divided._*

 

*Jesus prayed: _“That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You.”_* (John 17:21).

 

*Application:* Christian unity reflects Trinitarian unity!

*Truth 5: _The Trinity is Eternal, Not Temporal_*

– *No beginning* – *_“In the beginning was the Word.”_* (John 1:1).

– *No ending* – *_“Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”_* (Revelation 22:20).

– *Constant presence* – “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).

*Truth 6: _The Trinity is Holy, Not Human_*

*Isaiah’s response: *_“Woe is me, for I am undone!”_* (Isaiah 6:5).

*Our response:* Humble reverence, not casual familiarity.

*Truth 7: _The Trinity is Accessible, Not Distant._*

*Through Christ,* we have access to the Father by the Spirit (Ephesians 2:18).

*The veil is torn!* We can approach the throne of grace with confidence. (Hebrews 4:16).

*The Ultimate Question:*

*Beloved congregation, the haunting melody of *_“Holy, Holy, Holy”_* now fades, but the eternal reality it proclaims must resonate in our hearts forever!

*The question* is not whether you understand the Trinity perfectly—the question is: *_Does the Trinity understand you intimately?_*

 

 

*Three Life-Changing Invitations:*

 

*Invitation 1: _ENCOUNTER THE FATHER’S LOVE._*

 

A little girl was asked, *_“How do you know your father loves you?”_* She replied, *_“Because when I wake up in the morning, he’s already been awake thinking about me!”_*

 

*Scripture:* Jeremiah 31:3 – *_“I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.”_*

 

*Challenge:*

Have you experienced the Father’s unconditional love? Not His anger, not His judgment, but His tender, pursuing, never-letting-go love?

 

*Invitation 2: _SURRENDER TO THE SON’S SACRIFICE_*

 

During World War II, a soldier threw himself on a grenade to save his comrades. They lived because he died. Jesus threw Himself on the grenade of our sin—not because we were His friends, but while we were still His enemies!

 

*Scripture:* Romans 5:8 – *_“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”_*

 

*Challenge:*

Have you personally accepted Christ’s sacrifice? Not just intellectually, but with your whole heart, life, and future?

 

*Invitation 3: _YIELD TO THE HOLY SPIRIT’S POWER_*

A ship can sail against the wind when it adjusts its sails appropriately. The Holy Spirit is the divine wind that can carry you against the currents of this world when you adjust the sails of your surrender!

 

*Scripture:* Galatians 5:16 – *_“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”_*

 

*Challenge:*

Are you living in the Spirit’s power or trying to live the Christian life in your human strength?

 

 

🔥 *THE ALTAR CALL: _“CASTING DOWN OUR GOLDEN CROWNS”_* 🦅

 

*The Moment of Decision:*

 

*As the hymn declares: _“All the saints adore Thee, casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea.”_*

 

*What _“Golden Crowns”_ Must You Cast Down Today?_*

*Crown of Pride:* Your achievements, reputation, and ego must be humbly set aside.

*Crown of Control:* Your plans, timeline, and way of doing things.

*Crown of Past Hurts:* Your unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment.

*Crown of Future Fears:* Your anxieties, your worries, your “what-ifs”

*Crown of Secret Sins:* Your hidden compromises, double life, and shame.

 

*The Beautiful Exchange:*

You cast down your tarnished crowns, and He places on your head:

– *Crown of Life* (James 1:12).

– *Crown of Righteousness* (2 Timothy 4:8).

– *Crown of Glory* (1 Peter 5:4).

*Declaration 1:* “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth!”

*Declaration 2:* “I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who died and rose again!”

*Declaration 4:* “I believe the Trinity dwells within me as Their temple!”

*Declaration 5:* “I believe I am called to reflect Trinitarian unity in my relationships!”

The Eternal Choice:

Beloved colleagues and brethren, we stand at history’s crossroads where ancient wisdom meets contemporary crisis. The covenant choice confronts our generation with unprecedented urgency:

 

Will we choose paths honouring the divine image in humanity, creation, and community by giving our lives to Christ Jesus?

Or, shall we persist in rebellious patterns that lead to destruction, division, and despair? God forbid! *_Our belief in God will never hinder scholarship or joy!_*

 

The consequences of our choice will echo through generations. Yet hope remains—the same God who warned Joshua of potential exile also promised restoration. The same Christ who pronounced judgment on unrepentant cities also wept over Jerusalem’s coming destruction. *_But we must believe in Hope to partake in God’s Plan. Jesus is Humankind’s only hope! Receive Him and Live!_*

 

Let us conclude with worship, for covenant reality ultimately leads to praise:

 

*To the God who establishes covenants in love,*

*Who honours faithfulness with blessing,*

*Who disciplines rebellion with mercy,*

*Who provides redemption through judgment.*

*And who calls us into eternal relationship?*

*Be glory, honour, and praise forever and ever!*

 

The choice remains. The covenant stands. The consequences await, resonating through Christ Jesus’ substitutionary sacrifice for humankind’s redemption.
