❤🔥🦅 *ABOUT THE HYMN AND ITS AUTHOR!* 👑🍇
Charles William Fry was born on the 30th May 1838, and died on August 24, 1882.
This song, “The Lily Of The Valley,” refers to Jesus, our Saviour, Redeemer, and Master, as “the bright and morning star.”
In June 1881, Fry wrote a set of words about Jesus being the Lily of the Valley to fit this tune.
The song suggests some reasons why Jesus is worthy of our devotion.
Stanza 1 reminds us that we can find a true friend in Jesus (John 15.13-15).

- Why can we think of Jesus as our Friend? He is like the lily of the valley: Song of Solomon 2:1-2.
The lily of the valley is apparently some lovely and sweet-scented flower used by the Shunemite lass as a symbol of the love and devotion between her and her beloved.
That same kind of affection should exist between us and the Lord.
- He provides all we need to cleanse and make us fully whole: Eph. 5:25-27.
- And He will comfort us in all our sorrows and troubles: 2 Thess. 2:17.
Stanza 2 reminds us that He is a strong and mighty tower (Prov. 18.10).

- As our tower, He has taken all our griefs and borne our sorrows: Isa. 53:1-4
- Also, He keeps us by His power: 1 Peter 1:3-5.
- And He will help us to reach the goal: Phil. 3:8-14.
Stanza 3 reminds us that He is a constant companion who will never leave us (Heb. 13:5-6).

- Because of Him, we have nothing to fear: 2 Tim. 1:7, 1 Jn. 4:18.
- As our companion, He will fill us with His manna: Jn. 6:31-33.

Each stanza ends with lines that explain how important Jesus should be to each of us:

Growing up, I never quite understood what was special about this hymn. But a few years ago, as I studied the names of Jesus, this hymn became very special as a complete understanding of it dawned upon me.
In my meditations on this song, I took time to study *_the Lily of the Valley_*, and here are some interesting facts I found about it.
*_“The lily of the valley”_* represents sweetness and the return of happiness. It can also symbolise humility.
Observed under a microscope, the Lily of the Valley reveals some true beauty that is not always apparent to the naked eye.
*_First,_* the Lily of the Valley is white—a symbol of purity and holiness.
*_Secondly,_* it has seven grains or seeds, the colour of gold. Jesus spoke of the Lily of the Valley in Matthew 6:28 and said that *_“Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these.”_*
The Lily of the Valley has a strong and beautiful fragrance. It is a fruitful flower, producing berries, and it grows prolifically from one root—just as Jesus is the root from which all spiritual blessings grow, Rev. 22:16.
A lily is a sweet and fragrant flower with a strong scent.
Because Jesus is a Friend, a strong tower, and a constant companion, those who have followed Him and have known the blessings that He offers can truly recognise that to them, He is *_“The Lily Of The Valley.”_*
On my birthday, today, I’m deeply honoured to serve you again as a divine instrument to declare this beautiful message about our precious Lord as *_“The Lily of The Valley.”_* May His sweet fragrance fill every heart through these words!

❤🔥🦅 I have an interesting story: 👑🍇
A botanist studying the valley’s lily under a powerful microscope was amazed by what he discovered. Growing low in the valley, this humble white flower revealed extraordinary beauty invisible to the naked eye. Seven golden seeds nestled within its pure white petals, and its fragrance was so intense it could perfume an entire garden. Unlike proud flowers that demand attention on hilltops, the lily of the valley grows quietly in lowly places, yet its influence spreads far beyond its humble position. Similarly, our Lord Jesus chose the lowly path—born in a stable, raised in Nazareth, befriending the outcasts. Yet His influence has transformed the world, His purity has cleansed millions, his silent wealth ensures that his flocks and disciples lacked no good thing, and His sweet fragrance of love continues to draw souls from every valley of despair into His glorious presence. 👑🍇
*The Valley Experience*
Beloved, life often leads us into valleys of sorrow, disappointment, financial struggle, broken relationships, and shattered dreams. In these low places, we feel forgotten, overlooked, and insignificant. Like the lily that grows in the valley, we find ourselves in areas where the sun barely reaches, where the soil seems barren, and where we question whether anything beautiful can emerge from our circumstances. Are you there? Jesus has you in mind this hour: Your laughter is here!
The children of Israel knew this low valley experience so well. They wandered through literal valleys and figurative wilderness seasons, longing for something pure, beautiful, and fragrant to remind them of God’s presence.
*The Thorns Among Us*
But valleys are not just low places—they’re often filled with thorns. Our text says, *_“Like a lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.”_* Life’s complications surround us like thorns: unjust criticism from others, temptations that scratch our souls, betrayals that sinks the heart, worldly pressures that seek to choke our spiritual growth, and environments that seem hostile to holiness.
These thorns represent the challenges through which God allows us to understand life’s threats to destroy the beauty God wants to cultivate in us. The experiences pierce, they wound, they make growth seem impossible. Some believers even get wounded or lose their physical lives in that battle! Many believers ask, *_“How can I maintain purity among impurity? How can I remain fragrant when surrounded by the stench of sin? How can I be beautiful when everything around me is ugly?”_*
*The Lily’s Victory*
The glorious truth, beloved: Jesus declares, *_“I am the lily of the valleys!”_* He doesn’t just grow in valleys—He conquers them! He doesn’t merely survive among thorns—He transforms them! Like the lily that produces seven golden seeds (representing perfect spiritual fruit), Jesus brings forth ideal righteousness, peace, joy, and victory in our valley experiences.
His fragrance is so powerful that it overcomes every foul odour of sin. His beauty is so radiant that it outshines every ugly circumstance. His purity is so perfect that it cleanses every stain. And His growth is so prolific that from one root (Himself), He produces an entire garden of believers who carry His sweet aroma wherever they go.

Come to the Lily of the Valley with your broken heart—He specialises in making beauty from ashes and bringing sweet fragrance from bitter experiences.

While the discerning and believing lover of the True God respects your spiritual journey, knowing we all strive to worship the one and only creator of all things, consider the unique beauty of Christ—the only Lily who grows in every valley, transcending all religious boundaries with His pure love.
Hear the inspired truth of all times, *_“And there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”_* – Acts 4:12 (NKJV).
iii. *To the Atheistic Person,* know that you are not taken for granted for being unique. God gave all His *_homo sapiens sapiens_* will, intellect and emotion. Hence, you can believe what you deem fit and salient.
Even if you question His existence, observe the beautiful transformation in those who have found this Lily—their changed lives bear witness to His reality and power. Can you notice the unspeakable joy of Salvation in the simple, poor, trustworthy and caring soul who believes in Christ and lives an accomplished, humble life?
Here is a humble call that does not belittle your choice: *_“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”_* – Psalm 34:8 (NKJV).

So, He chose you amongst many to lead His people, so that you can offer a righteous leadership that changes the perception of the opposition. Listen attentively to a statement of divine truth that seems not to make much sense before, coming from your so-called critics’ mouths without love: *_“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”_* – Proverbs 29:2 (NKJV).
