Lenten Season – Day 14 – Very Rev. Prof. Kọ́nyinsọ́lá Àjàyí

• *March 18 – Day 14 – PRAYER FOR JOSEPH’S BLESSINGS*

Lord God Almighty, the Stone of Israel, Mighty to save, gracious to bless, make me like Joseph – a fruitful bough, with branches running over the wall; make me a fruitful branch of Christ, the Vine – so all that comes from me is reflective of Christ in me – the hope of glory.

Father, bless me with precious favours of heaven; bless me every morning with dew from You to grant me refreshing; bless me with the deep lying beneath the earth, so I may be prospered in all undertakings; bless me with the precious fruits of the sun, so I may have light and its benefits; bless me with the precious gifts of the Holy Spirit – so I may be positively led to rise and shine; bless me with the best things of the ancient mountains – so I may attain lofty heights; bless me with the precious favours of the everlasting hills; and bless me with the precious favours of the earth and its fullness.

Father, grant me the blessings of the deep that lies beneath the seas; blessings of the breasts and of the womb, so I may be nourished; blessings of the redeemed – so I enjoy the pure spiritual milk of the Word; and blessings that surpass and excel blessings of the past from Jacob to Joseph to my father and his ancestors.

Grant me, Lord, the excellency of wisdom, discipline, Christ-likeness, dignity, power and the grace to use these for Your glory, making the world a better place and for my personal good and welfare.

Save me, Lord, from ungodly counsel, and make me, like Joseph, embrace fidelity, chastity, loyalty, and piety instead of falling for temptation that may destroy me.

Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; preserve my life from fear of the enemy; hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words at me.

Lord God Almighty, turn all evil plans for me to sound, and when archers have bitterly grieved me and shot at me and hated me, strengthen my bow, and make the arms of my hands strong – make me more than conquerors and by my deeds let even my repentant enemies be saved.

Father, as Your ransomed were delivered, save me from my enemies and from sin, that I may – in the presence of my enemies – sing with everlasting joy and obtain gladness and peace in this life and the next.

I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
