And, Our *Hymn is _”Joy To The World!”_Composed by_ Isaac Watts.*
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let Earth receive her king
Let every heart prepare Him room.
And Heaven and nature sing.
And Heaven and nature sing.
And Heaven and Heaven and nature sing.
We will sing, sing, sing.
Joy to the world –
We will sing, sing, sing.
Joy to the world, the saviour reigns,
Let men their songs employ.
While fields and floods rock hills and plains:
Repeat the sound of joy.
Repeat the sounding joy.
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
We will sing, sing, sing:
Joy to the world.
We will sing, sing, sing.
He rules the world with truth and grace.
And makes the nations prove –
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love –
And wonders of His love.
And wonders, wonders of His love.
Joy to the world:
We will sing, sing, sing.
Joyful, joyful we adore Thee::
God of glory, Lord of love,
And hearts unfold like flowers before Thee –
Opening to the sun above.
Joyful, joyful we adore Thee:
God of glory, Lord of love,
And hearts unfold like flowers before Thee –
Opening to the sun above.

The credits for the hymn *_“Joy To The World:”_*
“Joy to the World” was written by English minister and hymnist Isaac Watts, based on a Christian interpretation of Psalm 98, Psalm 96:11-12, and Genesis 3:17-18. The song was first published in 1719 in Watts’ collection – The Psalms of David: Imitated in the Language of the New Testament, and applied to the Christian State and Worship. This hymn is the most-published Christmas carol in North America.

*_Let us pray:_*
- The sacrificial death of Jesus has freed me from curses brought by the Original Sin (mentioned in Genesis 3:17-18). I confess my transgressions before God’s throne of mercy, and I am saved by grace, in Jesus’ Name!
- (Psalm 96:11-12) God has pronounced Rejoicing as my portion: My realm resumes its gladness in all ramifications, in the mighty Name of Jesus.
- (Luke 11: 20) With the finger of God, O Christ Jesus – cremate every cloak of heaviness and the gloom of sadness from the lives of my destiny’s helpers, my family and my soul, in Jesus’ Name.
- (Psalm 98:1). My Glory sings a new song, following God’s marvellous breakthrough and success in my favour. Dancing and merriment have become permanent occurrences in my life, in Jesus’ Name.
- (Psalm 98:2).O LORD, reveal your salvation and righteousness to favour our nations– in Jesus’ Name.
- (Acts. 13:6-12) I incapacitate every evil agent who diminishes the glory of the Church’s answered prayers. I cast my oppressors into the abyss – in the Name of Jesus Christ.
- (Isaiah 51:9-11) Awake, O arm of the Lord and show mercy on your ailing Church so that your promise for the ends of the earth to witness your salvation may be manifested, in Jesus’ Name (Psalm 98:3).

*Hymn on focus: *_“Joy To The World!”_*
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, as we gather to continually celebrate the wondrous gift at Christmas, we are reminded of Isaac Watts’s timeless hymn, “Joy to the World. “ This beloved carol encapsulates the essence of our faith, reflecting the joy and hope that come with the arrival of our Saviour. Today, let us explore the profound truths found in Psalm 98 and how they resonate with the message of joy that permeates the Christmas season beyond the epiphany.
- *_The Call to Joy (Psalm 98:1-3)._*
The psalmist begins with a jubilant proclamation: *_“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvellous things!”_* We are called to respond to the goodness of God with joy. The arrival of Christ marks a new era, a new song for all creation.
In the opening lines of our hymn, we are invited to let the Earth “receive her King.” This is not just a call for acceptance but an invitation for transformation. As we prepare our hearts to receive Him, we must reflect on what it means to make room for Christ. Are there areas that need to be cleared away to welcome His presence more fully? Let us give our lives to Christ, and be rededicated to Him.
- The Universality of Joy (Psalm 98:4-6).
The psalm continues, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!” This joy is not limited to a select few; it is a universal call that resonates across all creation. The hymn reminds us that “heaven and nature sing,” and every element of the earth is invited to participate in this celebration.
As we look around, we see that the message of Christ’s birth brings hope not only to humanity but to all creation. Fields, floods, rocks, hills, and plains all join in repeating the sound of joy with instruments of that joy, spreading God’s light and love to those around us, especially in a world that often feels heavy with burdens.
- The Reign of Christ (Psalm 98:7-9).
The psalm culminates in a powerful declaration of God’s sovereignty: *_“He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.”_* The joy we celebrate is rooted in the assurance that Christ reigns with truth and grace.
In a society filled with uncertainty and strife, we can rejoice that our Saviour’s rule brings justice and righteousness—the wonders of His love, as the hymn beauties. As we sing, *_“He rules the world with truth and grace,”_* we affirm our trust in God’s divine governance.
- Joyful Adoration (Closing Reflection).
As we move into perfection, let us reflect on the final verses of our hymn: *_“Joyful, joyful we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love.”_* Our response to the birth of Christ is one of adoration and reverence. Just as flowers unfold before the sun, may our hearts unfold in praise and worship.
This Christmas, let us sing and live out our Saviour’s joy. Let us be vessels of His love and joy, sharing it with a needy world. As we gather with family and friends, may our hearts be filled with the true spirit of Christmas—joy, hope, and love.
As we go home to ponder about God’s gift at Christmas, remember the words of Psalm 96:11-12: *_“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad.” _* As we celebrate the coming of our King, let us carry the message of joy into the new year. May *_“Joy to the World”_* be a song we sing and a truth we embody. *_Amen._*
*_Let us be known for our love for one another, celebrating our diversity while standing firm in our unity in Christ. Prejudicial, tribal or racist considerations should cease to rule our decisions and allegiance. Let us reason together and be united in love without myopic or preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. We must eschew bias against people from different backgrounds and show genuinely caring intentions. Together, we will heal divisions within our community and shine as a beacon of hope in a fractured world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen._*
*As God reigns, His glorified mercies, which rank above judgment, will cause you, your spouse, children, ministry, and endeavours to be victorious before this year leaves the stage for a new one. You will receive the sweetest, “bottom-pot” blessings of Christmas with abundant joy and fulfilment that lasts for a lifetime, in Jesus’ Name!_*
*_Amen._*
