Our *THEME:*
*_“FROM TRIALS TO TRIUMPH: Renewing Our Commitment to Christ!”_*
Our *TEXT:*
Romans 8: 18, 28.
- *_For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
- *_And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose._*
NKJV.
Our *BIBLE PASSAGE:*
Romans 8: 18-28.
*_Romans 8: 18-28._* (FROM SUFFERING TO GLORY!)
- *_For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us._*
- *_For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God._*
- *_For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;_*
- *_because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God._*
- *_For we know that the whole creation groans and labours with birth pangs together until now._*
- *_Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body._*
- *_For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?_*
- *_But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance._*
- *_Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered._*
- *_Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God._*
- *_And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose._*
NKJV.
And, Our *Hymn is: _”NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS” Composed by_ Rev. Robert Lowry.*
- What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- *_Refrain:_*
*Oh! precious is the flow*
*That makes me white as snow;*
*No other fount I know,*
*Nothing but the blood of Jesus.*
- For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
- Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

The hymn *_“Nothing, But the Blood of Jesus”_* was written by Rev. Robert Lowry, an American Baptist minister, hymn writer, and music educator. The grey-bearded Man of God was born on July 12, 1826, and this Hymn was published when he was 50 years old.
The hymn “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus” by Rev. Robert Lowry is closely associated with several Bible verses that highlight the themes of redemption and cleansing through Christ’s sacrifice. One of the key verses often cited in relation to this hymn is:
- Hebrews 9:22 (NIV): *_“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”_*
Another relevant verse is:
- 1 John 1:7 (NIV): *_“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”_*
These verses reflect the central message of the hymn, emphasising the significance of the blood of Jesus in the forgiveness and cleansing of sins.
Lowry also composed the hymn music, showcasing his lyric and composer talents. He wrote this hymn to express his belief in the power of faith and the enduring nature of spiritual joy, even amidst life’s challenges.

Our *GOOD NEWS* is titled,
*_“FROM TRIALS TO TRIUMPH: Renewing Our Commitment to Christ!”_*
Our *TEXT:*
Romans 8: 18, 28.
- *_For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
- *_And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose._*
NKJV.
Beloved friends, as we begin to enjoy the graces of another new year, we are reminded of the trials and tribulations that beset our world today. We live in times that challenge our faith, test our resolve, and threaten to overwhelm our spirits. Yet, as Christians, we are called to rise above these trials, renew our commitment to Christ, and embrace the triumph that is promised to us.
For our reflection today, let us turn again to Romans 8:18-28 (NIV) and focus on the following verses as our guiding text for this day in our year of Ultimate Triumph:
- Romans 8:18: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
- Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
As we reflect on these words, we recognise that the trials we face—the moral decay, the chaos, the untold hardship, the betrayals, the failed attempts at fulfilling our goals—and the uncertainty of these end times—are not to be dismissed lightly. They affect our communities, our families, nations of our world, and our very souls. However, Paul encourages us to view our sufferings through the lens of hope.
In our world today, we witness the painful effects of these end-time realities: violence, despair, and a pervasive sense of hopelessness. Yet, we must remember that these trials are not the end of our story. They are the birth pangs of a new creation. Just as a mother endures pain in anticipation of new life, we, too, can persevere through our struggles, knowing that glory awaits those who remain steadfast in their faith.
*Renewing Our Commitment:*
As we navigate through the seasons of our lives, particularly those marked by trials and tribulations, it is essential to renew our minds and spirits. This renewal is pivotal for the Church as we transition from moments of hardship to a season of triumph. Let us explore the factors that support this renewal, grounded in Scripture.
- *_Understanding Our Identity in Christ._*
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV): *_“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”_*
Recognising our identity as new creations in Christ is foundational. This understanding shifts our perspective from viewing ourselves as victims of our circumstances to seeing ourselves as victors empowered by Christ. Embracing this new identity helps us to renew our minds and focus on the possibilities that lie ahead.
- *_Transforming Our Mindset._*
Romans 12:2 (NIV): *_“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing your mind. Then you can test and approve God’s will —his good, pleasing and perfect will.”_*
Transformation begins with the mind. We are called to reject worldly patterns of thinking that lead to despair and defeat. Instead, by renewing our minds through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and community, we can align our thoughts with God’s perfect will, leading us toward triumph.
- *_Fostering a Spirit of Hope._*
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): *_“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”_*
Hope is a powerful catalyst for renewal. We can face trials with a hopeful perspective when we understand that God has a good plan for us. This hope fuels our faith and encourages us to trust God’s promises, guiding us toward a fruitful and triumphant future.
- *_Practicing Gratitude._*
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV): *_“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”_*
Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack – to recognising God’s blessings. In moments of trial, maintaining an attitude of gratitude can transform our outlook and strengthen our resolve. By acknowledging God’s goodness, we cultivate a heart of thanksgiving that fosters renewal.
- *_Engaging in Community._*
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): *_“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”_*
The community of believers plays a crucial role in our renewal. Gathering together, sharing our burdens, and encouraging one another strengthens our faith. In the community, we find support, accountability, and the collective power of prayer, all of which propel us from trials to triumph.
- *_Embracing God’s Promises._*
2 Peter 1:4 (NIV): *_“Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”_*
God’s promises serve as anchors in our lives. When we meditate on and embrace God’s promises, we can confidently move forward, empowered through them. They remind us of His faithfulness and our hope in Him, leading us to triumph over trials.
- *_Accepting the Due Process._*
As we seek to renew our minds and spirits, let us remember that the journey from trials to triumph is not just a destination but a continuous progression —due process. By understanding our identity in Christ, transforming our mindset, fostering hope, practising gratitude, engaging in the community, and embracing God’s promises, we position ourselves for renewal and victory.
To inspire us in this journey, let us consider the wisdom of those who have walked this path before us:
- S. Lewis: *_“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”_*
- Helen Keller: *_“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”_*
And I won’t forget Our Church’s Mentor – the Founding Father of Methodism and the World’s Charismatic Evangelism:
- John Wesley: *_“Give me a hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth.”_*
Beloved friends, as we embark on this new year, let us hold fast to the hope that is found in Christ. Our trials may be many, but I thank God they are temporary. Through faith, we can transform our trials into triumphs. Let us give our lives to Christ Jesus in total resurgence of our minds, renewing our commitment to Christ and trusting that He will work all things for our good.
As we navigate the storms of life, may we declare with confidence: “What can wash away my sin? Nothing, but the blood of Jesus!” For in Christ, we are triumphant beyond all barriers. May we commit ourselves to this path, trusting that God will lead us to excel in a season of triumph. Amen.
*_I now command every sickness – including the emotional, financial or spiritual barrenness – and failure in your life, home and ministry to be cast into the desolate places, NOW, in Jesus’ Name._*
*Beloved, Happy New Year!*

As God’s Anointed, I humbly prophesy, according to the Word of God, the evil declarations against your life are NOW divinely annulled and defeated, in Jesus’ mighty Name.
*_Every plan of the Kingdom of darkness against your soul has perished – forever, in Jesus’ mighty Name._*
