๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ *LENTEN DEVOTION โ€“ DAY 35* ๐Ÿ•Š

๐Ÿ’Ž *Tuesday, Fifth Week in Lent – Gospel fruit and obedience* ๐Ÿ’Ž

๐Ÿ’” *The Fruit that Follows Faith * ๐Ÿ’”

Today we consider how authentic faith yields visible obedience and tangible fruit. In John 15:8 (NKJV), Jesus declares, *_โ€œBy this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.โ€_* Lent invites us to examine the alignment of what we claim to believe with how we liveโ€”our choices, our words, and our acts of mercy. True obedience is not merely punctual compliance but a transformative response to the gospel that reshapes daily life, work, and relationships.

*Global illustration:* Across cultures, faithful communities have demonstrated that fruitfulness is evidenced by mercy in action, justice in practice, and generosity that crosses boundaries. A Nigerian context, we pray for that fruit to be present in leadership and followership humility, community service, and mutual aid, but the underlying truth speaks to believers everywhere: faith matures into deeds that testify to Christ.

Consider how your sphereโ€”family, church, workplace, or neighbourhoodโ€”bears the marks of faithfulness. Are there areas where fear, apathy, or cynicism stifled growth, especially at these times of insecurity? Lent invites repentance and recommitment to a life that bears enduring fruit for the Kingdom.

*Reflection:* What concrete fruit do I want my faith to produce this week? How can I cultivate habits that reflect obedience to Christ, not merely conformity to religious routine?

*Todayโ€™s practice invites us to:*

Identify one specific fruit you want to grow in your life this week (e.g., merciful action, generosity, integrity).

Create, for example, a repeatable practice that nurtures that fruit daily.

Share a brief testimony of Godโ€™s faithfulness in producing fruit through your life.

๐Ÿ™ *LITURGICAL PRAYER* ๐Ÿ™

*_O God of fruitful faith,_* let my life be a garden where Your Spirit cultivates obedience that yields visible fruit. Grant me strength to sow seeds of mercy, justice, and truth in every sphere of influence, and may I rejoice in the harvest that follows, through faith and joy. Amen. *(John 15:8 NKJV).*

*Prayer for persistent fruitfulness:* Father, help me cultivate Christ-like outcomes in speech, action, and attitude; may my daily choices honour You and advance Your Kingdom. Amen. *(Colossians 1:10 NKJV)*

*Intercession for Our Nationโ€™s common good:* Lord, empower believers to work for justice, uplift the vulnerable, and model generosity in every sector of society. Amen. *(Proverbs 11:25 NKJV)*

*Closing blessing:* May your life abound in every good work, to the glory of God and the good of all, throughout all the lands and their festivals. Amen. *(2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV)*

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ “You will know them by their fruits.”

*โ€“ Matthew 7:16 NKJV*
