ποΈ *LENTEN DEVOTION β DAY 30* π
π *Thursday, Fourth Week in Lent – The Quiet Discipline of Listening* π
π *The Discipline of Listening Before Acting* π
The discerning must pause to hear before acting in this season that urges our movement toward Holy Week, as *Lent* renews Godβs invitation for the church to lean into His voice and discern His will amid noise and expectation. Listening is not passive but a deliberate posture of obedience. As we tune our ears to the Father, we discover direction for service, mercy, and truth that align with His purposes for our nation and world.
In our nation of bustling activity and urgent needs, strategic listening can avert rash decisions. A church council, a community NGO, or a family asking, *_βWhat is the wisest next step?β_* can benefit from waiting on Godβs counsel, testing plans as it correlates with the Scripture, and seeking wise counsel before implementing decisions that affect many souls.
*Reflection:* What is God inviting you to listen to, today, that you have been quick to overlook? Are you prepared to slow down, seek counsel, and align plans with His heart for justice, mercy, and truth?
*Todayβs practice invites you to:*
Create a daily βlisten and respondβ moment before taking major decisions.
Read a proverb or periscope that speaks to wise planning and restraint.
Share a practical act of listening: ask questions, listen deeply, and respond with humility. Afterall, no one knows it all: iron sharpens iron.
π *LITURGICAL PRAYER*π
*_O God who speaks softly yet surely,_* grant me ears to hear Your gentle leading in the clamour of life. May I pause to discern Your will before I act, and may every decision reflect Your kingdom values, in Jesusβ Name. Amen. *(Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)*
*Prayer for discernment and patient action:* Father, help me test plans against Your Word, seek wise counsel, and pursue the gentleness that persuades rather than overwhelms. Amen. *(James 1:5; Colossians 4:6 NKJV)*
*Intercession for Nigeriaβs governance and social impact:* Lord, grant Nigeriaβs leaders and communities the humility to listen to minority voices, the courage to adjust plans without ego, and the wisdom to pursue justice with mercy, in Jesusβ Name. Amen. *(Isaiah 1:17; James 1:19 NKJV)*
*Closing blessing:* May your day be guided by divine wisdom and calm assurance, for the glory of God and the good of all, in Jesusβ Name. Amen. *(James 3:17 NKJV)*
