🕊️ *LENTEN DEVOTION – DAY 14🕊️

*Tuesday (God’s presence in weakness)*

💔 *_The Strength That Hums in Weakness_* 💔

Today, we lean into the paradox of Lent: weakness becomes the stage upon which God’s power is most clearly displayed. In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV), the Lord says, *_“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”_* Paul’s weakness becomes a vessel through which divine strength is released; when we are weakest, Christ’s power is made known in and through us. The weakness some of us face cannot go with abstinence from food, but these believers chose to deprive themselves of what they have that are best needed to lessen the burden of those who suffer in the body, some being oppressed to the extent that they lack life’s provisions and could not provide for their families. Not being limited to abstaining from personal meals for a given period, the path of Lent invites us to resist the temptation to hide our vulnerability and instead welcome God’s strengthening in our moments of frailty.

In communities grappling with economic strain, security challenges, and social pressure, many bear invisible burdens. A pastor facing burnout, a market woman navigating price shocks, or a community organiser confronting systemic obstacles may feel inadequate. Yet it is precisely in these spaces of weakness that God’s sufficiency can shine — through steadfast faith, communal prayer, and practical acts of mercy that acknowledge vulnerability while pointing to God’s redeeming power.

*Reflection:* Do I trust God’s grace when I cannot fix the situation or control the outcome? Lent invites us to rest in the truth that God’s power is not activated by prowess but released through dependence. If I boast, let me boast only in my weakness, because it is then that Christ’s strength is at work within me.

Today’s practice invites a posture of confession and declaration: acknowledge your weakness, name a need you cannot meet in your own strength, and verbally claim the sufficiency of God’s grace. Pair this with prayer for endurance in ministry, work, and family life, knowing that His grace sustains beyond human capability and transforms weakness into testimony.

🙏 *LITURGICAL PRAYER🙏

*_Jehovah Tsidkenu,_* I come before You, acknowledging my unrighteous limitations and leaning into Your limitless holiness. In my moments of weakness, grant me the confidence to declare Your strength at work in me. May Your power be perfected in my frailty, and may I stand firm in faith as I depend on You daily. Strengthen Nigeria’s church, families, and communities through the sufficiency of Your grace. Amen. *(2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV)*

*Prayer of reliance on His strength:* Father, when I am weak, may Your strength sustain my steps, my decisions, and my service. Teach me to live by Your power rather than by my own ability. Amen. *(Philippians 4:13 NKJV)

*Intercession for those bearing heavy burdens:* Lord, uplift the weary, support the faint, and provide through Your people generous compassion and practical help. Let Your grace be evident in our communities as we lean on You. Amen. *(Psalm 68:19; Isaiah 40:29 NKJV)

*Closing blessing:* May the grace of Christ sustain you, may the power of the Spirit uphold you, and may the peace of God guard your heart today and always. Amen. *(2 Corinthians 13:14; Isaiah 26:3 NKJV)*
