Day 11 in the Lenten Season – Very Rev. Prof. Konyin Àjàyí, SAN.
*March 15 – Lent Day 11 – PRAYER FOR WISDOM*
Almighty God, Who gave wisdom to Esther and Daniel, Our Eternal Father, Gracious God, the only Wise One, I come before You today, as King Solomon did in his days, to pray that You grant me divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding so that I may live the holier and guided life doing things divine. Show me the way, Father, as You showed the sages of old, giving me the correct views of You, so I may – with wisdom – pursue my earthly goals in my march to eternal life in Christ. By divine understanding, draw my spirit’s eyes to the things concealed from mortal sight. Lord God, You know the days are evil, so enable me to live – not as unwise but as the wise, making the most of every opportunity before me.
Father, Our Righteousness, lead me in paths of righteousness and give me the understanding to grasp the depth and height of You and Your Son’s love for me and humankind – so Your love may permeate my being.
Most Gracious God, Father of Lights, shine the Light on me so I may read, interpret, understand and apply learning from the Bible in my daily living – and by this, find my purpose, pursue my goal and walk the Way.
Father, let my dealings with others always be full of grace and seasoned with salt so that I may be righteous in my dealings with everyone.
God our Father, by Your all-discerning Spirit, bring success to all I do; give me a discerning spirit and discretion, so I may know the way to go, the instructions to obey, and then avoid all which may input sin into me.
Father, grant me a humble heart borne of divine wisdom, a penitent soul borne of divine understanding, and a chaste living borne of sanctification by the Holy Spirit.
Lord God Almighty, give me all that will make me a wise being with an understanding heart and a Christian soul, and let me enjoy Your plan for me, which is terrific; and let me be guided Yby our wisdom for the magnificent contrite.
Lord God, Who makes souls shine, anoint me with Your heavenly grace and seal me with the Holy Spirit, so every thought, work and word of mine may be fruitful for Your glory and in Your service. In my end, let me make it to your dwelling place in heaven, for I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

*Resonating Anecdotes*
I. *The Wisdom of Solomon:*
In ancient times, King Solomon was renowned for his wisdom. One of the most famous stories involves two mothers who both claimed to be the mother of a baby. Solomon proposed cutting the baby in two to determine the true mother. The birth mother immediately offered to give up her claim to save the child’s life, revealing her identity. This tale is a potent reminder that true wisdom often expresses itself in acts of love and sacrifice.
Let us, like Solomon, seek God’s wisdom in our daily choices, aiming to love and uplift others in our decisions.
2. *The Parable of the Good Samaritan:*
In this well-known parable, Jesus illustrated the application of wisdom through compassion and mercy. A Samaritan helped a wounded man when others passed by, showcasing that possessing wisdom means recognising the needs of others and taking action. Let this remind us to grow in wisdom, not just knowledge, so we act with kindness and grace towards all, fulfilling our divine purpose.
3. *The Builders of the House:*
Jesus spoke of two builders—one who built his house on the rock and another on the sand. The one who built on the rock demonstrated wisdom by establishing a strong foundation. When storms arose, his house stood firm. In contrast, the house built on sand collapsed. This parable teaches us that wisdom involves laying a solid foundation in our lives, built upon God’s word. Let us diligently seek that divine wisdom to withstand life’s challenges.
These anecdotes in our prayers encourage the hearts of our audience to earnestly seek wisdom and understand its profound implications in our lives as we journey through faith.
*May God bless this prayer and the hearts it touches during this Lenten season, in Jesus’ Name.*
AMEN.
