*PSK 113. Sunday, 2nd November, 2025.*

Our *GOOD NEWS* for this *_Sunday, 2nd November 2025_* is prepared so that we could prayerfully choose our allegiance as it becomes increasingly clear that the end of times has come, and eternity beckons! Welcome to the first Sunday in the month of Remembrance. ❤‍🔥🍇 *HAPPY SUNDAY!* 🍇❤

In the Christian world, particularly in the Catholic and orthodox tradition, November is known as the Month of the Holy Souls or the Month of Remembrance.

This dedication is focused on the “faithful departed” (souls in Purgatory – to the Roman Catholics – or generally, the “Church Triumphant”) and is a time for the living (the “Church Militant”) to pray for those who have died and are awaiting full entry into heaven. Remember: According to the Bible, the souls/spirits of deceased believers are in heaven in the conscious presence of the Lord, but they have not yet received their eternal, resurrected bodies or their final rewards. The reception of the full eternal reward and a glorified body is a future event that occurs in conjunction with the resurrection at Christ’s return (the Rapture/Second Coming).

Key practices and events within November include:

  • All Saints’ Day (November 1): A solemnity honouring all saints in heaven, both known and unknown.
  • All Souls’ Day (November 2): The Catholics’ main commemoration day for the faithful departed (the “Church Suffering” – souls in the purgatory), where special prayers and Masses are offered for their purification and swift passage to heaven.
  • Prayers and Offerings: Throughout the month, the faithful are encouraged to offer prayers (especially – the Catholic faithful pray the Rosary and say the “Eternal Rest” prayer), sacrifices, and Holy Masses for the souls of the deceased.
  • Visiting Cemeteries: Many people visit and spruce up the graves of loved ones, lighting candles as a symbol of remembrance and hope.

The timing of this month of remembrance, at the end of the liturgical year (which concludes with the Solemnity of Christ the King, before the start of Advent), is meant to encourage reflection on the end of life and the hope of eternal life.

*_Great God Of Wonders_*

Text:  Samuel Davies

*Music:*  Laura Taylor

  1. Great God of wonders!
    All Thy ways Are matchless,
    Godlike and divine;
But the fair glories of Thy grace
    More Godlike and unrivalled shine.

Refrain:

Who’s a pardoning God like Thee?
Who has grace so rich and free?
Who’s a pardoning God like Thee?
Great God of Wonders

  1. Crimes of such horror to forgive
Such guilty, daring worms to spare
    This is Thine grand prerogative
And none shall in the honour share!

(Refrain)

  1. In wonder lost, in trembling joy,
We take the pardon of our God:
Pardon for crimes of deepest dye,
A pardon bought with Jesus’ blood.
    (Refrain)

  1. O may this strange,
    this matchless grace,
    This Godlike miracle of love,
Fill the wide earth with grateful praise,
And all the angelic chorus above.
    (Refrain).

The hymn “Great God of wonders! all thy ways” was written by (1723–1761), an American Presbyterian minister and president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University). First published posthumously in 1769, the hymn is titled or and is based on the scripture in Its central theme is the wonder of God’s pardoning grace, emphasizing that His forgiveness is more remarkable than His other divine attributes.

  • Author: Samuel Davies, an influential American minister.
  • Publication: First published in 1769, edited by Thomas Gibbons.
  • Inspiration: Based on Micah 7:18, which asks, “Who is a god like unto thee, that pardons iniquity…”.
  • Central Theme: The hymn focuses on the “glories of God in pardoning sinners,” presenting God’s grace as His most wonderful and matchless attribute.
  • Context: It is considered a significant example of American hymnody that emerged after the Great Awakening.
  • Impact: The hymn’s powerful message of grace resonated with many, including prisoners who found meaning in its words, similar to “Amazing Grace”.
  • Refrain: The famous refrain, “Who is a pardoning God like Thee? / Or who has grace so rich and free?” powerfully captures the hymn’s central theme.

🦅 *SERMON THEME:*

🦅 *COME TO THE GREAT GOD OF WONDERS!* 🌹

🦅  *SERMON TEXT.* 🌹

*Primary Text: Matthew 25:34-45* (NKJV).

*_“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”_*

*Supporting Text: 1 John 3:17-18* (NKJV).

*_“But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”_*

*ILLUSTRATION*

In the heart of Calcutta’s slums, a frail Albanian nun knelt beside a dying man covered in maggots and stench. The odour was overwhelming, the sight revolting, yet Mother Teresa whispered, “Jesus, how wonderful it is to serve You in Your distressing disguise.” This wasn’t mere humanitarian work—this was worship in its purest form.

When critics questioned why she served the dying rather than preventing deaths, she replied with prophetic insight: “We are not social workers. We are contemplatives in the heart of the world, for we are touching the body of Christ twenty-four hours a day.”

Her secret? She saw Christ in the least, the lost, and the forgotten. Every act of mercy became a sacrament, every touch of compassion a prayer, every moment of service an encounter with the divine. She understood what *Samuel Davies* captured in our opening hymn—that our God is indeed the “Great God of Wonders,” whose greatest wonder is not the parting of seas or the stopping of the sun, but His grace that transforms ordinary people into extraordinary vessels of His love.

*_This is the wonder that awaits us today: the privilege of serving the King of Glory by serving the least of His brethren, discovering that in giving we receive, in serving we are served, and in loving we are loved beyond measure._*

🦅  *BODY OF SERMON* 🌹

  1. *SITUATION: THE DIVINE SUMMONS TO SUPERNATURAL SERVICE.*

Beloved congregation, we gather today not as casual observers of God’s Word, but as active participants in His eternal display of redemption. The situation before us is both glorious and sobering: *the Great God of Wonders* has issued a divine summons that will determine our eternal destiny.

In Matthew 25, Christ paints a panoramic picture of the final judgement—not some distant, academic theology, but the ultimate reality that awaits every soul in this sanctuary. Here stands the King of Kings at His glorious throne, with all nations gathered before Him like sheep and goats awaiting separation.

But notice, beloved, this isn’t primarily about doctrinal correctness or religious performance—it’s about practical righteousness demonstrated through tangible acts of mercy. The situation reveals a stunning truth: the Great God of Wonders has chosen to manifest His glory not just through cosmic miracles, but through the compassionate hands and generous hearts of His people.

The hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned—these aren’t merely social statistics but divine appointments. Each person in need becomes a sacred opportunity to encounter Christ Himself. This is the wonder of incarnational ministry: Jesus continues to walk among us in the flesh of the vulnerable, the forgotten, the marginalised.

As our beloved Christ’s Good News Mission declares in its Holy Spirit-inspired slogan: *”Enter to Worship… Depart to Serve!”* The situation demands that our worship translate into service, our devotion into demonstration, our faith into works that authenticate the Gospel.

The situation is urgent because, as Bishop Richardson A. B. Káṣhọrọ̀ and I have discovered in our one-to-one ministry approach, God is building His church through genuine Christian love manifested in practical service. Those who hunger for divine empowerment will be divinely led to join this movement—not through human diplomacy, but through the magnetic power of authentic love in action.

  1. *COMPLICATION: THE DANGER OF DISEMBODIED DISCIPLESHIP.*

But here, beloved, lies our complication—and it’s a complication that threatens to shipwreck souls and devastate destinies. The danger before us is what I call *“disembodied discipleship”* —a faith that exists only in words, thoughts, and religious activities, never translating into tangible expressions of Christ’s love.

How many in our churches today would be classified among the goats, not because they denied Christ with their lips, but because they denied Him with their lives? How many pray eloquently on Sundays but pass indifferently by human need on Mondays? Everyday, they ignore the humane needs of the feminists, atheists, non-conformists, unbelieving folks, and people of other faiths, stagnating their assistance within their own side of the divide – as if Christ died for only Christians: He died for the entire world. Then, those who believe in Him follows Him, and are they are still being saved! How many of us sing “Great God of Wonders” with passion in the sanctuary but wonder why God seems distant in their daily walk?

*_The complication deepens when we realise that both sheep and goats were surprised by the King’s verdict. Neither group was fully conscious of their pattern of response to human need. This reveals a sobering truth: we can become so accustomed to either serving or ignoring that we don’t recognise the eternal significance of our everyday choices._*

*_The religious leaders of Jesus’ day mastered this tragic dichotomy. They could debate theology for hours but wouldn’t lift a finger to help a suffering soul. They knew Scripture intellectually but missed its practical implications completely. They worshipped God with their mouths while their hearts remained far from His heart for humanity, just as most people criticise governments while they refrain from playing their good role in citizenship._*

Furthermore, the complication intensifies in our modern context. We live in an age of unprecedented connectivity yet growing callousness, abundant resources yet expanding poverty, advanced medical knowledge yet increasing emotional and spiritual sickness. The needs are overwhelming, the problems are so complex, yet the solutions have been made so costly.

It becomes easy to rationalise our inaction:

*_“The problems are too big,”_*

*_“Others are better equipped,”_*

*_“I’ve got my own struggles,”_*

*_“The government should handle this,”_*

*_“They probably brought it on themselves._*

But these excuses crumble before Christ’s penetrating words: *_“Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.”_*

iii. *RESOLUTION: THE REVOLUTIONARY POWER OF INCARNATIONAL LOVE.*

But praise be to the Great God of Wonders—where there is complication, He provides resolution! Where there is impossibility, He demonstrates His power! Where there seems to be no way, He makes a way!

The resolution lies not in grand gestures or dramatic programs, but in the revolutionary power of unconditional love—love that takes flesh, love that gets its hands dirty, love that costs something, love that serves without expecting recognition or reward.

This is the wonder of wonders that Samuel Davies captured in our hymn: *_“But countless acts of pardoning grace beyond thine other wonders shine.”_* God’s greatest wonder isn’t just that He pardons our sins, but that He transforms pardoned sinners into agents of His mercy, vessels of His compassion, and instruments of His love. After Christ Jesus, no other mortal Saint has emerged as a fresher in the divine service!

The resolution emerges when we understand that Christ didn’t just die FOR us—He lives THROUGH us. Every act of mercy becomes a sacrament, every gesture of kindness a sermon, and every expression of love is a miracle. This is why 1 John 3:17-18, enshrined on our Christ’s Good News Mission logo, declares: *_“But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in action and in truth.”_*

The resolution lies in what I call “the ministry of the towel”—following Christ’s example of servant leadership, washing feet when others seek thrones, serving meals when others demand recognition, and binding wounds when others build walls.

When we feed the hungry, we participate in the miracle of multiplication. When we clothe the naked, we share in the glory of divine covering. When we visit the sick and imprisoned, we experience the wonder of resurrection power bringing life to dead situations.

The resolution transforms every believer into a walking, breathing demonstration of God’s character. Our lives become living epistles, read by all men, testifying that the Great God of Wonders is not distant but intimately involved in using human suffering and need to develop the kind-hearted and experienced lifter of heads.

This is the essence of true evangelism: not merely proclaiming Christ with our words alone but revealing Christ through our works. As we serve *_“the least of these,”_* we make the invisible God visible, the abstract Gospel tangible, and the proclaimed Word incarnate.

*Let us apply the theme to living situations, using Additional Scriptures:*

  1. *The Penitent, Troubled Soul Seeking Christ’s Touch.*

Dear burdened soul, your past failures need not define your future usefulness. Refuse to blame God for your pain! The Great God of Wonders specialises – by His nature – in transforming broken vessels into beautiful instruments of His grace.

*Isaiah 61:3* (NKJV) promises: *_“To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.”_*

Adversity has its place in human lives, keeping the elect in check: tested and proven! If you trust God, your pain will become your platform for ministry; your scars will become your strength for service; and your testimony will become your tool for transformation. Christ doesn’t just forgive your sins—He redeems your suffering and uses your story to heal others.

*2 Corinthians 1:3-4* (NKJV) declares: *_“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”_*

Come to the Great God of Wonders today—not as the perfect, but with penitence; not whole, but willing; and not as the strong, but in surrender.

  1. *The Atheistic Person.*

Friend, your inquisitive mind has unanswered questions about God’s existence. I challenge you to examine a little more than the philosophical arguments, yes, the practical evidence. *_If there is no God, how do you explain the universal human compulsion toward mercy, justice, and love?_*

*Romans 2:14-15* (NKJV) observes: *_“For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.”_*

Even in your unbelief, when you feed the hungry or comfort the afflicted, you unconsciously participate in the character of God. Your very capacity for compassion testifies to a moral lawgiver, your hunger for justice points to a righteous judge, and your longing for love reveals the source of all love.

*Psalm 19:1* (NKJV) proclaims: *_“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork”._*

This verse is part of a psalm attributed to David and describes how the natural world reveals God’s power and glory.

iii. *The Inter-faith Community.*

Friends from diverse beliefs, hear the summons: the Great God of Wonders is not seeking rivalry but reconciliation through love in action. While we hold to the uniqueness of Christ, we must mirror His compassion in practical mercy that opens doors for honest conversation and witness.

*John 14:6* NKJV. remains central: *_“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”_*

Yet our witness is not merely verbal; it is a love that respects dignity, serves the vulnerable, and invites others into meaningful relationships with Christ. Let compassion be our bridge, not a barrier, and let our service be a plentiful testimony to the tender heart of our God.

  1. *The Everyday People.*

In the humdrum of daily life—workplaces, schools, situational environments, homes, and streets—the gospel must be alive in ordinary acts of integrity, kindness, and steadfast faith. The world watches not only for eloquent sermons but for the consistency of a life that loves neighbour as self.

*Colossians 3:23* NKJV tells us: *_“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”_*

In the daily grind, in what we purchase, in how we treat colleagues, in how we raise children, in how we steward time and money—the Great God of Wonders is glorified when faith becomes visible in deeds.

  1. *The Business Organisation in Peril.*

Economic peril tempts compromise: shortcuts through illegalities, deceit, or marginalising the vulnerable to survive. Yet honest weight in business—meeting commitments, fair wages, transparent practices—honours God and sustains long-term trust.

*Proverbs 16:11* NKJV says: *_“A just weight and scales are the LORD’s; All the weights of the bag are His work.”_* Let the marketplace be a place where mercy and honesty lead, not merely profit margins: and Business Organisations will cease to be in danger of bankruptcy!

  1. *Revered Ecclesiastic Leaders.*

Spiritual leaders bear a weighty accountability to proclaim truth with gentleness and sovereignty. We must guard against the temptations of formulaic religion, boxed into a corner of living in accordance with a mechanically followed rule or style that scares the people who need Christ away. Racism or tribalistic inclinations, greed-induced machinations wrapped in a cloak of spiritual deceit, fake piety, favouritism, or fear of man… will only produce an ungodly form of harmful fellowship. Our ministry must embody grace-enabled truth, calling people to authentic transformation in Christ.

*2 Timothy 4:2* NKJV: *_“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”_* Let leadership model the humility of Christ, the courage to speak hard truths, and the mercy that restores.

vii. *Leaders of Every Tier of Government.*

Those in governance bear responsibility before God to seek justice, mercy, and truth in policy and practice. Our prayers unite with righteous action: laws that protect the vulnerable, ensure fairness, and promote the common good. Our foreign policies must not hideously covet the realm of the weaker nations, for that is unethical and ungodly! While we avoid bullying others, we must remember that God subjects his creations under their specific Governmental Authorities:

*Romans 13:1* NKJV: *_“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God.”_*

Leadership must honour God. Let leaders be persuaded by the voice of conscience and the cries of the needy, that public power may be a conduit of God’s benevolence, not a theatre for self-interest or overbearing selfish policies.

*CHALLENGE FOR THE CONGREGATION TO REDEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO CHRIST – NOT RELIGION.*

Beloved saints of the Most High, I stand before you today not as a mere preacher, but as a herald of heaven’s revolution! The Spirit of the living God is stirring the waters of your spirit right now, calling you from the shallow pools of religious routine into the deep rivers of radical discipleship!

*The hour has come to burn your bridges to lukewarm Christianity!* Too long have we been satisfied with Sunday performances, while Monday through Saturday, we live like practical atheists. Too long have we sung about God’s wonders while wondering why we never experience them. Too long have we prayed for revival while refusing to be revived ourselves!

Listen to me, church: *_Christ didn’t die on the Cross at Calvary to give you a weekly religious appointment—He bled and died to provide you with a daily divine assignment! He didn’t rise from the grave to fill your pews—He conquered death to fill your purpose! He didn’t ascend to heaven to leave you comfortable—He went to prepare a place while preparing you for service!_*

*The Great God of Wonders is calling you to join His one-to-one ministry revolution!* As our beloved Christ’s Good News Mission has discovered, God is building His church through authentic love demonstrated in practical service. He’s not looking for crowds who cheer—He’s seeking disciples who serve. He’s not impressed by those religious people who attend—He’s anointing those who act in Christlikeness.

*Today, I challenge every soul in this sanctuary:*

– *_If you’re tired of praying prayers that seem to bounce off the ceiling,_* start serving people who need your help!

– *_If you’re weary of reading Scripture that doesn’t change your character,_* begin living Scripture that changes someone’s circumstances!

– *_If you’re frustrated with worship that doesn’t transform your week,_* engage in service that demonstrates your faith!

*This is your moment of decision!* Not next Sunday, not after you get your life together, not when you feel more qualified— *NOW!* The Great God of Wonders doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. He doesn’t use the perfect; He perfects the willing.

I dare you to make this declaration: *“Lord, I’m tired of playing church while people perish! I’m finished with religious games while souls suffer! I surrender my life completely to You—not to earn salvation, but to express it! Use me as Your hands to heal, Your voice to encourage, Your heart to love the least, the lost, and the lonely!”*

*The altar is not just open—it’s on fire with heaven’s glory!* Come and let the consuming fire of God’s love burn away every excuse, every fear, every compromise that has kept you from experiencing His wonders through serving others.

Beloved, the challenge remains: let the worship we offer be joined to the work we do. Move beyond religious etiquette to radical discipleship. If your heart longs to see the wonders of God demonstrated in your life and in your world, answer the call: I come to the Great God of Wonders; I bow, I serve, I follow.

*ALTAR CALL*

The altar is ablaze with the presence of the Great God of Wonders. If the Spirit is stirring your heart to deeper surrender, come now. If you sense a fresh commissioning for one-to-one ministry, step forward. If you long for healing, restoration, or a prophetic commissioning into service, approach with faith.

– For backsliders: return to your first love; the Father runs to meet you with open arms.

– For one-to-one ministry: sign up to be mentored into a life of intentional evangelism and compassionate outreach.

– For healings and direction: step into the anointing, let the Lord touch your life, and send you forth with purpose.

*CONCLUSION.*

Beloved, today we have beheld the grandeur of the Great God of Wonders, and we have been invited into a revolution of love that translates faith into action. The final judgment of Matthew 25 (NKJV) calls us to an integrated life of worship and service. The danger of disembodied discipleship is real, but the cross empowers us to live incarnationally.

As Samuel Davies reminded us through the hymn, the pardoning grace of God shines beyond all other wonders. Our response is not mere admiration but radical participation—loving God with all our heart and loving our neighbour as ourselves. Let mercy, justice, and generosity define us. Let the one-to-one ministry model become the motif of our church life, renewing our homes, workplaces, schools, and streets with the fragrance of Christ.

I totally trust in the guidance of the Spirit as you respond to this Great God of Wonders. May every life touched by these words become a living testimony of the Gospel—not merely spoken, but demonstrated in mercy, truth, and love.

May the Great God of Wonders grant you courage to act, grace to love, and power to persevere. May your life declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

*“Enter to Worship… Depart to Serve!”* remains the banner; let your life be the proof of the Gospel’s power.

We have just been served with our *GOOD NEWS!* 😇
