1: BELOVED, let us love :
Love is of God;
In God alone hath love
Its true abode.

2: Beloved, let us love :
For they who love,
They only are His sons,
Born from above.

3: Beloved, let us love :
For love Is rest,
And he who loveth not,
Abides unblest.

4: Beloved, let us love :
In love is light,
And he who loveth not,
Dwelleth in night

For only thus
Shall we behold that
God Who loveth us.

💕🦅 *Exhortation: _“Beloved, Let Us Love!”_* 💕🦅

Beloved, as we gather here on this beautiful occasion, we are reminded of the greatest commandment given to us by our Lord: to love one another. The theme of our message today, *_“Beloved, Let Us Love!”_* is not merely a call to action but a reflection of our identity as children of God.

The Foundation of Love:
The Scriptures tell us that love is of God. In 1 John 4:7, we read, *_“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”_* Our ability to love genuinely stems from our relationship with God. As we receive His love, we are compelled to share it with others.

John 15 resonates strongly with the theme of love. In this chapter, particularly verses 12-13, Jesus commands His disciples to love one another as He has loved them, stating, *_“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”_*

Additionally, John 15:9 expresses Jesus’ love for His disciples, saying, *_“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”_* This passage emphasises the importance of love in the relationship between Jesus and His followers, as well as the call to remain in that love and express it towards others. Overall, the themes of love, sacrifice, and community in John 15 align closely with the sentiments expressed in Horatius Bonar’s hymn.

Love in Action:

Love is not passive; it requires action. In *_Matthew 25:35_*, Jesus illustrates how love is expressed through service to others. In our daily lives, we are called to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for the sick. Let us reflect on how we can embody love in our communities, particularly during challenging times.

I will tell you a story:

Once upon a time in ancient Rome, during the reign of Emperor Claudius II, there was a kind and compassionate Catholic priest named Valentine. The emperor had banned marriages for young men, believing that single men made better soldiers. However, Valentine believed in the sanctity of love and the importance of marriage.

Secretly, he continued to perform wedding ceremonies for couples in love, uniting them in the eyes of God. Word of his actions spread, and many couples sought him out, inspired by his dedication to love and faith.

Sadly, news got to Emperor Claudius who ordered the death of Rev. Fr. Valentine. While in prison, he got acquainted with the jailor’s family and continued to spread the message of love and faith, even converting his jailer’s family. According to legend, before his execution, the jailer read Valentine’s farewell letter aloud to his blind daughter and the strong compassion restored her sight. She saw his note signed “Your Valentine.” The love between Fr. Valentine and the blind girl was selfless as she felt so loved by him.

Her sorrow was without consolation, but she continued to pray to God for Rev. Fr. Valentine and God heard her prayers. She was healed from her blindness the day of his execution. The testimony of her life – and especially love with Valentine – started spreading, beginning in Rome. People started praying at the tomb of Valentine especially those with life threatening illness. Many more miracles were recorded leading to popular acclamation of Valentine as a Saint. February 14, the day of Valentines execution became memorable up to this day about the Priest who preached and lived to die in authentic love.

In the year 1836, many relics of Saint Valentine were exhumed and found all over world.

Valentine was martyred on February 14, around 269 AD, but his legacy lived on. He was beatified by the Church and became a symbol of love and devotion, reminding people of the power of love that reflects Christ’s love for humanity. Today, Saint Valentine’s Day celebrates not just romantic love, but all forms of love, echoing the message of compassion and sacrifice that Valentine embodied.

Through this story, we remember that true love is active, mirroring the love of Christ—sacrificial, unconditional, and transformative.

Overcoming Hatred with Love:
In a world filled with strife, anger, and division, we are called to be agents of love. Romans 12:21 reminds us, *_“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”_* We must choose love over hatred, forgiveness over resentment, and unity over division.

The Power of Love:
Love has the power to heal and restore. It can mend broken relationships and bring hope to those who feel lost. As we pray for our buried virtues to resurrect, let us remember that love is the key to revival. In Galatians 5:22, *_love is the first fruit of the Spirit,_* signifying its importance in our lives.

To Our Officials and Politicians in the National, State, and Local Government, please allow the message of love inspire you to lead and govern with compassion, prioritising the welfare of your constituents and fostering unity in diversity.

To Captains of Industries in the Firms and Corporate Bodies in today’s troubled economy: Companies must embrace love and integrity in their practices, supporting employees and communities, thus creating a positive impact even in challenging times. Profit-making is good, but not at the expense of sacrificing humanity.

For God-Fearing Individuals Who Are Gradually Losing Their Faith: Beloved, remember that love is the foundation of our faith. Let your love for God and others reignite your passion for His Word and His ways. In moments of doubt, turn to the community of believers who can support and uplift you. Be kind to others.

For Individuals Grappling with Loss of Faith in Government Authorities and Captains of Industry: When trust in leaders falters, let us rise in love and prayer, advocating for integrity and accountability. We can be the voice of hope and change, reminding others that true leadership reflects God’s love and righteousness.

About The Frustrated Low-Income Earners: Love compels us to care for the least among us. As we embrace God’s love, let us reach out to support those in need, offering not only material assistance but also encouragement and companionship. Together, we can uplift one another and foster a sense of community. That fund in your hands that is grossly inadequate is *_a seed_*. Do not eat it, but sacrificially hand it to a Mission of God, Servant of God or that friend in need. You will be surprised how your need will be miraculously met! It has happened to me many times!

A Call to Action:

As we celebrate love today, especially on St. Valentine’s Day, let us commit to being vessels of God’s love. Let us reach out to those in need, support one another, and build a community founded on love. Remember, our love is a reflection of God’s love for us.

As we go forth from this gathering, let us carry the message of love in our hearts, speeches, and actions. Let us embody the words of Horatius Bonar in MHB 444: “For only thus shall we behold that God who loveth us.” Love is not just a feeling; it is an act of will and a reflection of our relationship with God.

May God bless you all as you share His love with the world. Let us pray together for strength to love as He loves, bringing light into the darkness and hope into despair.

*_Heavenly Father, thank you for your immeasurable love through this message. As we depart from this gathering, fill us with your Spirit to love others selflessly and genuinely. Help us to be vessels of your love in a world that desperately needs it. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen._* 💕🦅

💕
