💕 Our *BIBLE PASSAGE:*
*James 1: 2-8.* (Profiting From Trials)
- *_My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,_*
- *_knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience._*
- *_But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing._*
- *_If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him._*
- *_But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind._*
- *_For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;_*
- *_he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways._*
James 1: 2-8. (NKJV). 💕
🦅 And, Our *Hymn is: _”THOU HIDDEN SOURCE OF CALM REPOSE” by_ Charles Wesley.* 💕
MHB. 98
- Thou hidden source of calm repose,
Thou all-sufficient love divine,
my help and refuge from my foes,
secure I am, if Thou art mine;
from sin and grief and shame I hide me,
Jesus, in Thy name.
- Thy mighty name salvation is,
and keeps my happy soul above;
comfort it brings, and pow’r and peace,
and joy and everlasting love;
to me, with Thy dear name, are giv’n
pardon and holiness and heav’n.
- Jesus, my all in all Thou art;
my rest in toil, my ease in pain,
the healing of my broken heart,
in war my peace, in loss my gain,
my smile beneath the tyrant’s frown,
in shame my glory and my crown.
- In want my plentiful supply,
in weakness my almighty pow’r,
in bonds my perfect liberty,
my light in Satan’s darkest hour,
my help and stay whene’er call,
my life in death, my heav’n, my all.

The Hymn’s Author, Charles Wesley, the son of Samuel Wesley, was born at Epworth, England, on Dec. 18, 1707. He was educated at Westminster School and afterwards at Christ Church, Oxford, where he graduated with an M.A. In 1735, he took Orders and immediately proceeded with his brother John Benjamin Wesley to Georgia, both employed as missionaries of the S.P.G. He returned to England in 1736. For many years, he engaged with his brother in preaching the Gospel. He died on March 29, 1788. Charles Wesley has been justly assigned the appellation of the “Bard (lyricist or poet) of Methodism.” His prominence in hymn writing may be judged from the fact that in the “Wesleyan Hymn Book,” 623 of the 770 hymns were written by him; and he published more than thirty poetical works, written either by himself alone, or in conjunction with his brother. The number of his separate hymns is at least five thousand.

Today, beloved, we gather to reflect on an essential truth: our journeys are uniquely orchestrated by God. In *_James 1:2-4,_* we are reminded that trials are not merely setbacks but profound opportunities for growth. Every challenge is a stepping stone towards spiritual maturity—a vital reminder that patience and perseverance are key components of answered prayers in our faith journey.
Consider the beautiful sight now common – two guavas on the same branch – one ripe and thriving while the other is green, hanging in waiting. Isn’t it striking how nature reveals this fundamental truth? Just because one fruit is ready doesn’t mean the other is a failure; it simply speaks to the divine timing in every life. We are often tempted to measure our worth and success against those around us, feeling a sense of inadequacy or frustration when things seem to be moving ahead for others. Yet, God has a perfect plan for each of us. Your time will come; it requires patience, perseverance, and steadfast prayer.
Let every delay teach you endurance, and let every trial strengthen your resolve. Remember, dear friends, that our most significant victories are often on the other side of our waiting. So, as we journey through this life, let us commit to being people of prayer, lifting our hearts to God and seeking His guidance. In those quiet moments with Him, we find our strength renewed and our spirits uplifted.
As you embrace patience, may you also cultivate perseverance, holding fast to the promises of the Lord. Soon, you will bear fruit and be more glorious than ever imagined. Be encouraged; a blessing is on your way now, in Jesus’ Name!
💕 To drive home our discourse today, Beloved, let us consider these few Topical Life Lessons to learn from our Passage and Text:
*_“Divine power in prayers”_* refers to the extraordinary effectiveness and influence of invoking God’s authority and ability through prayer. In a biblical context, prayer is viewed not merely as a ritual or request but as a powerful means of connecting with God, seeking His will, and experiencing His transformative presence.
The Key Biblical Concepts of divine power in prayers include:
- *Access to God:* Prayer allows believers to grow in intimacy and direct communication with God. Hebrews 4:16 encourages believers to confidently approach God’s throne, indicating that prayer is a means to access His divine power. The other accesses are Praise, Intercession, and Prophetic Utterance.
- *God’s Will and Purpose:* Prayer aligns the believer’s heart with God’s will. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus teaches His followers to pray for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done, suggesting that prayer is a conduit for divine purposes.
- *Faith and Belief:* Faith plays a crucial role in the power of prayer. James 5:16 states that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective,” highlighting that prayers grounded in faith can lead to significant outcomes.
- *Intercession and Authority:* Through Prayers, we can intercede for others, tapping into God’s power to change their lives. Romans 8:26-27 speaks of the Holy Spirit helping in our weaknesses, emphasising that divine power in prayer also involves the Spirit’s intercession.
- *Transformation and Miracles:* Throughout the Bible, prayer is associated with miracles and divine intervention. For instance, in Acts 12, the early church prays for Peter’s release from prison, and God miraculously answers their prayers.
- *Strength and Support:* Prayer is a source of strength during trials and challenges. Philippians 4:6-7 tells believers not to be anxious but to bring their requests to God in prayer, promising peace that transcends understanding.
- *Patience is Vital:* Just as the unripe guava needs time to reach its full potential, we, too, must allow ourselves the grace of time to grow and mature in our faith and endeavours.
- *Perseverance Through Trials:* Challenges and setbacks are opportunities to build strength. By persevering, we develop qualities that lead to spiritual maturity and fulfilment.
- *The Power of Prayer:* Maintaining a consistent prayer life helps us remain connected to God, empowering us to endure waiting periods with hope and faith.
- *Preventing Comparison:* Understanding everyone has their timelines can mitigate feelings of inadequacy or frustration. We must focus on our journey, trusting that God has a plan for us.
In summary, “patience” is the quality of being gentle or calm while bearing provocation, annoyance, misfortune, pain without complaint, loss of temper, irritation or the like.
It is an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay;
“Perseverance” is steady persistence while taking action for any purpose, in a given state of mind – especially despite difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
In Theology, Perseverance is the continuance in a state of grace to the end, leading to eternal salvation, and
“Divine power in prayers” encompasses connecting with God, aligning with His will, and invoking His authority to effect positive change, heal, and transform. It highlights the belief that through earnest and faithful prayer, believers can access God’s omnipotent power to navigate life’s challenges and fulfil His purposes.
As we navigate life, we often compare our journey with those around us. Just like the guavas hanging on the same branch—one ripe and the other still needing time—we must learn that everyone’s path to success is unique and divinely timed. We must embrace our growth process, knowing that patience, perseverance, and fervent prayer will lead us to our fruitful season in God’s perfect timing.
*_I pray that the Holy Spirit will open our eyes, giving us the ability to see beyond the physical; open our ears to hear His voice of instruction, our minds to discern the perfect law of liberty, and our hearts to receive the liberating reasoning that overpowers emotions, in Jesus’ Name!_*
*_Amen._* 💕
