๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ *LENTEN DEVOTION โ€“ DAY 13* ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

*Monday (Surrender to Godโ€™s will)*

๐Ÿ’” *The Whisper of Divine Direction* ๐Ÿ’”

Today, we turn our hearts toward submission: not my will, but Yours be done. In Luke 22:42 (NKJV), Jesus prays in Gethsemane, *_โ€œFather, if it is Your will, take this cup from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.โ€_* This moment reveals the depth of obedient surrender โ€” even at great cost, He yields to the Fatherโ€™s plan. Our Lenten practice is to align our desires with Godโ€™s purposes, trusting that His plans are good, even when they defy our comfort or immediate gratification.

Consider a local pastor or community leader facing a difficult policy decision that impacts livelihoods. The moment of surrender may look like submitting a preferred outcome to Godโ€™s broader purposes for justice, peace, and the common good. It could involve choosing transparency over political convenience, or prioritising the vulnerable over personal advantage. In families and churches across Nigeria, surrender to Godโ€™s will becomes a daily discipline โ€” choosing reconciliation over retaliation, truth over convenience, and mercy over retribution.

*Reflection:* What is my posture before God today? Do I cling to my plans when they conflict with Godโ€™s revealed purposes, or do I pray, โ€œNot my will, but Yours be doneโ€? Surrender is not passive resignation; it is active trust that Godโ€™s governance over our lives and our nation is sovereign, intimate, and good.

Todayโ€™s practice invites a concrete step of surrender: prayerful discernment, submitting choices to wise counsel and Scriptural truth, and taking practical steps in line with Godโ€™s direction. As we humble ourselves under Godโ€™s sovereignty, we open space for His wisdom to lead our households, churches, and communities toward justice, mercy, and peace.

๐Ÿ™ *LITURGICAL PRAYER* ๐Ÿ™

O God of sovereign purposes, I bow before Your perfect will. Help me discern Your direction in the decisions I face today, and grant me the grace to submit my plans to Your surpassing wisdom. May my life reflect faithful obedience, even when the path is costly, controversial, or uncertain. Shape my desires to align with Your kingdom, for the sake of Nigeria and the nations. Amen. (Luke 22:42 NKJV)

*Prayer for daily submission:* Father, not my will but Yours be done in my relationships, work, and community. Teach me to say yes to Your leadings and to trust Your timing. Amen. *(Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)*

Intercession for Nigeriaโ€™s governance and social direction: Lord, grant our leaders and citizens the humility to seek Your will above political advantage. May policies reflect justice, mercy, and the flourishing of all communities. Amen. *(Micah 6:8; Isaiah 1:17 NKJV)*

*Closing blessing:* May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ empower you to walk in obedience, with peace in your heart and courage for the days ahead. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14 NKJV)
