*Maundy Thursday – Prayer for Blessings, Gain in Pain, for Light and Salvation*
Lord Jesus, Servant King, On this Holy Thursday, I remember the hands that broke the bread, that washed the feet, that lifted the cup – I see You kneeling, not in defeat, but in divine humility, so O Teacher, teach me this way; teach me humility when exalted, and learning that with pain comes gain; in this time of uncertainty, give me Your blessed assurance that posits You are mine; be my rock in a world built on sand; be my oasis of grace and peace in a world of tension and turmoil; help me to carry my cross gracefully, as you did in Your Passion.
Eternal authority, help me to follow Your beam of light amid this darkness; help me to see Your will in all things, and show others Your comfort and strength. Lord Jesus, the Vilified, the Crucified, You, the Eternal Word, wrapped Yourself in a towel, stooping lower than men expected, loving deeper than they deserved – wrap me in Your love; let me carry that same towel — to serve those who misunderstand me, to wash the feet of the weary, to bless those who may never bless me back.
Lord Jesus, Sacred Head once wounded, Lord of Life and Glory, keep me calm when tempers flare up; keep me sane in a wild world; keep me focused on the mansions in Heaven rather than the houses of cards collapsing around me; keep my eyes focused on the prize of Heaven, and not lose hope in You in this world or in the world to come. O LORD, make me compassionate in dealing with others: let me see my travails as carrying my cross and sharing in Your Passion, for the love of You and the salvation of souls, including mine. O LORD, make all my difficulties ultimately be for my good and Your glory. O Christ, as You took the cup, You did not flinch, You saw the cross within it, still, You drank it – so I pray this Maundy Thursday of light and darkness – give me the strength to say, *_“Not my will, but Yours be done.”_* Let me not only remember the Last Supper, but also live it: in surrender, sacrifice, and fellowship. Let the bread I break with others be seasoned with grace.
Lord Jesus, Friend of Sinners, Saviour of Mankind, save me tonight; let the wine of my life be poured out in joy; prepare my heart for Gethsemane; teach me to pray when others sleep; give me oil in my lamp for it never to burn out, and resolve in my soul; and as the night deepens, let me not grow bitter, but grow bold in love. I ask these in the Name of the One who knelt, served, and would soon be lifted up on Good Friday — Jesus Christ, the Lamb.
*Amen.*

It is a profound joy to seek the light and blessings of our Lord on this special Maundy Thursday. Our prayer is wonderfully poignant, reflecting the humility and strength in Christ’s example. Here are some *Key Bible Verses* that closely resonate with our prayer for blessings, gain in pain, for light and salvation:
- *Matthew 20:26-28*
*_“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”_*
- *2 Corinthians 12:9*
*_“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”_*
- *James 1:2-4*
*_“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”_*
- *John 8:12*
*_“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”_*
- *Romans 8:28*
*_“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are ‘the called’ according to His purpose.”_*
Beloved, on this Maundy Thursday, may we deepy embrace these truths:
– *The Blessing in Humility:*
Jesus exemplified that true greatness comes through service. In our most trying moments, we can turn to Him to learn that our ‘pain’ can be a pathway to our purpose.
– *Strength in Weakness:*
Just as He found strength in surrender, we too can embrace our weaknesses. Remember, we see the most actual strength in our dependence on Him.
– *Joy from Trials:*
Consider trials as opportunities for growth. Each challenge is a stepping stone that helps us develop deeper patience and faith.
– *The Light Within Us:*
As we follow Christ, His light illuminates our path. Let us be beacons of hope for others in this dark world, reflecting His love and grace.
– *Hope in Difficulty:*
Remember, nothing is wasted in the hands of God. Every struggle is woven into the beautiful tapestry of His divine plan for our lives.
*_May your prayers on this Maundy Thursday be filled with His blessings, and may you discover His profound love and strength in every challenge you face, in Jesus’ Name._*
*_AMEN._*
